http://www.fursuit.de/ is a good place to start. Tails are pretty much just a tube of fur. Sew it inside-out first (use general thread, cross-stitch) until the very end, but leave a hole. Pop the tail outside-in, and then use polyfill (cottony substance, comes in bags you can buy at Wal-Mart), and stuff it carefully, using a golf-ball sized amounts. Sew it shut, and sew on an elastic band in a loop, or sew the end of the tail in a loop, approximately an inch and a half to two inches (so your belt can hold it up.) The length of the tail and the style is up to you.

I cannot be certain of the stores in Winnipeg, but some fake furs you can get from arts and crafts stores, even Wal-Mart (sometimes, if you're lucky.) There are fake furs that you can buy online as well.

permalinkExpect to pay 22CAD or higher per yard for faux fur. You want to also order swatches before hand if you order them remotely. Ask the person you're ordering from to check the fur by parting very hard to see if the fur is junk or not. There is lots of cheaply made fur which you can see the material which the fur connects to very easily. I'd recommend Britex, but they are in the US and you'd have to pay customs and shipping fees.
Googling brings up PLENTY of fabric shops which should carry faux fur.

As for cost I'm less woried I rather spend the extra now and have quality then be cheap and end up redoing it later. thanks again to both of you for all the help:)
