We has a fad this year?

So yeah, seems so far, that all the conventions I have been to seem to have a 'fad' for that time. For example, when I was at Anthrocon 2006, it seems every was talking about the famous 'Chuck Norris' facts. AC07 I heard a few talk about those 'lolicat' pictures, you know, the 'I can haz cheeseburger?' etc. At FC08, seems the Companion Cube from 'Portal' was the guest of honor. I seen little plushes of it everywhere. So whats it going to be this year? Yeah, I'm bored |

Normally these things aren't preplanned. Generally, you find out by using this scientific formula:
- Have conversations with people
- By day two, you're going to have heard things over and over again until the point you want to strangle someone. Keep these in mind.
- By the end of the con, one of these things will cause you to snap and beat someone across the face with someone's fursuit footpaw. That's the 'fad' for the con.
There y'go.

Even to this day, I am ever so confused on what that means...
Is it an anagram for something? A code of sorts? Even Wikipedia doesn't show anything useful.

Go play portal, Sonic God and then you will understand.

Be nice, now. You would be upset to hear anime fans shouting "Boo, furries!"

permalinkEspecially since some anime crosses the boundaries into furry interest. Creatures such as cat girls are quite popular.
And you will never convince me that My Neighbor Totoro (Tonari No Totoro) is a movie Furries should dislike.

Besides, anime has loads of zooanthropomorphics: Kimba, Porco Rosso, Pom Poko, Haku the dragon from "Sprited Away", the animal gods from Princess Mononoke, about a zillion neko girls, kitsune, Inuyasha, Fruits Basket (lots of transformation!).
And even Bleach has its own little furry sidekick: Kon, the goofy stuffed lion with a modsoul pill. :3 Oh yes, and one of the Gotei Captains is an anthro maned wolf/fox (still haven't gotten the story behind that).
Not to forget that the Hollowization concept in Bleach allows one to design an anthropomorphic Hollow form for oneself! Or, an anthro personification of ones zanpaktou (such as Abarai Renji's, and possibly Ikkaku, which seems to be a dragon).
Therefore: Bleach, Bleach, Bleach, Bleach!

I'm making the fad "The Game" and I plan on losing it and having to explain it to everyone at AC this year.
You cannot win the game
To think about the game is to lose the game
If you lose the game, you have to announce that you lost the game, which makes everyone around you lose, you then have a 30 minute grace period to forget about the game or else you lose again
If you lose, you have to explain to all non players what the game is and how you play, and then they are playing
NOT PLAYING THE GAME IS NOT, I REPEAT NOT AN OPTION.
The goal of the game is to get everyone on Earth playing.
I think if everyone at Anthrocon starts playing, that's a good start.

That stupid game. Why I oughta bean my friends for teaching that junk to me ;_; And as for fads, I'll be picking Portal. You can be sure I will get some people to sing Still Alive, a lot of people if I can. Some people hate it; some people love it. But you can be rest assured no one will be able to stop me! *insert evil laugh here*

permalinkI think the fad will be the same fad it is every year. Seeing how many posts you can make in the Anthrocon Forum.

permalinkThere is a limit to how much you can post on this forum in a time frame. I know because I hit it with my account twice already.
A very silly limitation, which Giza should remove.

You sure? I don't see any log entries from the quota module attached to your name... And your posting activity over the last few days is way below the limits I have set.
If you see it happen again, can you email me a screencap?
