Inspired by a comment that Vulpes Rex made... If you could meet any anthro-medium creator from history, who would it be, and why? Here's some suggestions: Me? I'd probably want to hang out with A. A. Milne, author of Winnie the Pooh. It is my understanding that he didn't intend his stories just for children, but for readers of all ages to enjoy. That is an individual who never left his childhood behind, and clearly worth talking to. -- Giza |

The elipsis (...) is meant for missing data. There are dozens of named that I couldn't list.
And next year, definitely, you will catch up. The Artist's Alley and the Dealer's Den is a perfect place to meet up with artists.
I had the honour of meeting Scott Shaw! in person last year. He was ever so kind to autograph my shirt for me.
I hope he comes back. ^^

If I could only choose 1, it would be H.G.Wells, for "The Island of Doctor Moreau". I'm quite curious as to his inspiration for that tale, it might be the first that explores the theme of uplifting animals to people (at least I don't know what the precedents are), and sometimes wonder...if perhaps Wells was using the animals as symbolic substitutes for the natives of England's colonies...or any empire's colonies, for that matter. Was he commenting on "The White Man's Burden", of "civilizing" the thought-to-be "savage" existance of the native populations of Africa and Asia?
I would also like to get to know Jack London; While "The Call Of The Wild" and "White Fang" aren't strictly anthro-, they do attempt to give us the critter's-eye-view of both the process of Dog reverting to instinct, and then Wolf becoming "civilised".
And E.B. White! For creating Charlotte and Wilbur, and Stuart Little.
Don Marquis - for archy and mehitabel.
George Harriman - for Krazy Kat, Ignatz, and Officuh Pup.

I'd meet the prehistoric creator of all that is fur--the sculptor of Lion Man, the 5,000 year old sculpture. ^^; Odd I know.

If we're talking truely anthropomorphic, I'd love to spend an evening with the late Walt Kelly.
If we're talking folks who do animals well, Richard Adams ('Watership Down').

George Underwood. I absolutely love his anthropomorphic paintings, especially his self-portrait. And his is the only picture of Big Brother(1984) that I've seen done correctly. =^^=

Me, I'd love to go back and meet the ones who came up with the ancient Pantheons. The Egyptians, Babylonians, Hindi, and many other cultures came up with Anthro-Gods as it were. I'd love to meet the ones who decided these things and find out exactly why?

Otherwise I'd love to meet George Orwell. Animal Farm has to be the first book to ever really hook me when I ready it in my sophomore year of high school.

permalinkDr. Seuss.
Cat in the Hat, the Lorax, the Sneetches, etc.
Plus, the man was a genius.
I mean we gotta consider him "anthro" since a lot of his characters are not human, and most bear some resemblance to an animal of some sort.
