I already submitted this to the suggest-a-panel thingie, is there any way to confirm that the proper people have gotten it? There was no confirmation of any kind... oh well. ANYWAY. After premiering at last years AC and polished at FC, I'm ready to run the third incarnation of LIVE ACTION ROLEPLAYING CHESS. This has been a big hit every time I've run it (all two!) If you weren't lucky enough to play or watch this game at another convention, it's a fursuit-friendly 32-player game played on an appropriately sized chess board. Each piece moves as it normally does, and gets special ability cards appropriate to its class. a few pictures from last year, just before the blood bath starts >:3 http://www.papayakitty.com/AC07/DSCF0044%20Chess%20light%20side.JPG These pictures give some idea of the crowd that the event attracts, but there's more behind the camera too! This is a blast for me to run and people coming up to me afterwards saying how much they enjoyed it really makes all the pre-con prep work worth it. I've got a few new surprises, as this is probably going to be a work in progress forever. |

Live action chess? My dear, do you not realize we are all already pawns in a much larger, much more sinister game? >:)

permalinkSo what's wrong with a game-within-a-game? Any sufficiently complex game can be broken up into smaller games...

YEs his seems to work
I do believe you guys should aim for a larger chess board
Looks kinda crowded on there
And the pieces should do some kind of cinematic move
You know like....instead of just bumping someone off they could beat em up and kick em off.
Something like that.
.........Or give em litlle foamy swords if allowed.............
So is there two people who would be giving the commands?

permalink@VegaGuy: if you want to donate a bigger chess board, I'll take it, but right now I'd like to get a few more uses out of this one which like everything else in the chess game, I bought with my own money which I never expect to see a penny of again. As far as cinematics go, there is emphasis placed here in roleplaying. People are encouraged to act out their attacks, damage dealt to them and deaths. Everyone can control themselves, since having 30 people being controlled by 2 people sounds boring. So, everyone gets to move on each turn.

really? well dont be a closet furry, at the cons and everything you would not have to worry about anything bad happening or embarassing yourself, be who you are, and be who you wanna be. Thats what I go by used to be one as well but I have met so many friends I actually have my furry family ^.^ (notes which to all of you)

Especially at a con
Nobody should be a closet furry cause you are all there for the same reason

permalinkThere's nothing furry about it other than some people can wear a suit if they want to (as you can see by the picture, most people don't)
