Looking to meet some new Furry friends!

Hello there, my name is Brenna and I'll be at Anthrocon this year with my dad and I just wanted to meet some furries here before I get to AC and have to meet people XD I am a very shy person unless I kind of in a way know the person! Anyway, this will be my first time at Anthrocon me and my father will be staying at a friends house in Pittsburgh and will be traveling by train(thanks AC for that AMTRAK discount!)and if you guys wanna look for me I will be the short possibly pink and blue haired girl with a tag that says Brenna and a homemade tag that says "Myscal" So again just hoping to meet some people here to meet at the con |

Hey Raiki! I'll be there early, and hope to meet some new people. I also am not much of a talker. I'm more of a quiet person... that is Unless I have something to say then I can keep a conversation goin pretty well. But if you happen to see me, I'd super love it if you'd tapped me on the shoulder or somethin or even through a rock at me! heheh I'll be the guy with the sleeveless tight shirt, and the HUGE camouflaged pants.

Why yes we are talking cotton candy hair...with a little bit of burnt(somehow) cotton candy because my tips will be black! but yup, the hair will be pink and blue!
That is the best hair color choice I have ever heard of cannot wait to see you there!

So... yeah- Hey!
I'm totally attending first year at AnthroCon, and in my opinion I'm not the best conversationalist. Most the time I just don't say anything at all. Most kids in my school thought I was going to blow the building up or just stab someone for no reason because I was so quiet... (nice school BTW)
Yet, some people I meet find me an aura of positive energy, some find me humorous with my interesting random behavior styles, and some just find me plain creepy. I guess that depends on who you are...

Knowing me, I'll make a 'great' first appearance to AC by entering the convention center with a cheesy heroic dive following a crummy '80's movie explosion... -_-''
Anywho, despite all that I'm going to pull through and give 110.3682958^23e percent my efforts to meet some new people and have a fun time. (since it appears all my other friends dropped out and left me alone ;_; )

permalinkThe pink hair might not be able to happen :/ I got a volunteer job at an animal sanctuary and I am not allowed to have crazy hair colors >.< but who knows I might be able to find some really quick pink and blue hair colors then get some blonde or something for after the con
Anyway, I cannot wait to meet all of you..and even if I don't get those hair colors just look for these badges

I can understand why that might be a concern.
In my experience, however, the vast majority of furs are very well-mannered and polite about others' boundaries. Off the top of my head, i can only think of one or two who've ever not lived up to that around me, and this will be my fifth AC, so i've probably encountered a couple thousand furs in that time.
Those one or two who have been less than perfectly well-mannered to me are ones where i think it was just a mistake--someone who probably should have realized that something was crossing a line and just didn't figure it out. And really, that's not a furry thing; people do that everywhere.

Hello Brenna, and here is to hoping you have a fun time at AC.
If you see a stunted Maned Wolf running around in Hot Topic Tripp Pants you will know it is me, Trpdwarf...or just look at my avatar picture and look for the suit that matches the face at AC. I'd me more than happy to be your friend if we cross paths.
You live in my state...and it pleases me to no end to know that there are kids out there still willing to work at these different animal places(except PETA). I once did something similar myself but it was at the VMSC, for two summers going all over the states to local boys and girls clubs(fun times)...anyway I hope you have fun, and to see you there.

Ello all you furries.
I remember when I used to be shy at my first con, a few years back. but being a vet of the cons, I can give a few pointers and info.
First, is to just relax. And I know, harder to do then say...but that will be key.
Next, be yourself. Do not go to impress or put up a front.
Now not ALL the furs are going to be out for that 'one thing' but there are some out there that have only that on their minds. Best way to deal with them is to move the conversation away from those topics.
Good ways to meet new furs at cons, the panels and events, dances, and the Zoo, (general area to just sit and chill.) and see what people are doing. Usually tons of artists there, and people with games. I myself bring oddball games, like Fluxx or Gloom or the like.
After that, parties. And not all parties are full of drunk furs, just 80% of them LOL. And I would suggest looking for anyone from the All Fur Radio crew, those people are a blast to hang out with, and not just saying that cause I am one of them, LOL. I have this tradition of adopting a fur for the con and making them the honorary Random T. Fur.

Is that really your impression of Anthrocon?
1) Drink responsibly if you go to any parties.
2) If someone approaches you in a fashion that leaves you feeling uncomfortable, the traditional response is, "No, thank you," or if that is not successful, then, "Please leave me alone." Note that the order is critical among polite individuals.
3) At Anthrocon, suggestion #2 is almost universally successful. If it does not work, look for a person in a red shirt that says "ANTHROCON SECURITY" on it. I assure you that the offending party will not trouble you further.
