I thoroughly enjoyed myself at AC 2006, and quite honestly, loved Pittsburgh. It was a god choice for location, and I thought everyone was just so enthusiastic and friendly about Anthrocon and eager to know what it was about. However, I have one gripe that could -possibly- be looked into. The Layout of the Dealer's Room/Artist Alley/ Artshow. I feel as if the dealer's room should be right in front, and the Alley and Artshow off to the other side, so that the first thing you see when you walk in is the Dealer's Room. Since Artist Alley was -right- in front, most people were stopping there and hitting all of the artists in Artists Alley, instead of primarily focusing on the Dealer's Room. Mind you, I'm all about shopping -both- places, but when Dealer's pay for their tables, it doesn't seem fair to put them second and away from the main door. Other opinions on this? |

I don't think we ever thought about it that way. We'll keep that in mind for 2007.

Rearranging the room would be somewhat challenging. Putting the art on the right side would put the curtain wall right in front of the concession stand, which I don't think they'd be too happy about. We can't rotate the layout, since we need the central aisle so that people do not need to walk through one part to get to another.
We can, however, change which door people enter, and we will look into that.

permalinkFrankly, I didn't think it made much of a difference what was in front. Me, I immediately skipped past Artists' Alley and went straight for the Dealers' Room, and eventually poked around Artists' Alley. You could have put Artists' Alley completely between me and the dealers, and I still would have gone straight for the Dealers' Room.
That having been said, I can see that I'm not everyone, and making the Dealers' Room more visible is a good idea. Given the conditions we're working with, I think switching the door we enter through is a great idea. (From my limited knowledge, it seems like it would be about the same effort as entering throught the door we did in 2006, and would make more people happy in the process.)
