Animé and Furry oftentimes share each others' territory, but a fan of animé is not always a furry and a furry is not always into animé.
I myself got interested in animé, but only a little bit, and my furry side actually had nothing to do with it.

Not really. My start came from something different and a surprised at the same. More like I saw it, I looked into it more, decided I liked it, and voila! I tend to keep my furry and my anime "territories" at separate boundaries anyway. Then again theres only a handful of anime I've seen so far and I don't except them to have impact on my furry side... for the time being at least (I don't think Sailor Moon would be a good choice for a furry influence.)

Nah, good old American TV brought me to this from a very young age. Come on, who else remembers Zoobilee Zoo? And of course, Dinosaucers.
Though, now that I think of it, it's a very non-traditional anime way of finding furry, but The Adventures of Little Koala and the Noozles were both Japanese.

Not me, either.
My interest in animals with anthropomorphic qualities (or humans with animalistic qualities) goes back...well, gee, as far as i can remember, i guess. Or at least i don't remember a time when i wasn't interested in them, though it took me some years to notice that other ppl had an interest in them, too.
I got into the bits of anime i like in college, entirely independently. I had friends there who were part of the campus anime club, with regular screenings of stuff that particularly interested them. First they dragged me to a couple of their screenings (princess mononoke, i believe, and this mini piece called magnetic rose). Then a couple of sets of my friends started watching different series in their rooms. Then one of my friends took it upon herself to introduce some of the rest of us to some of her favorite series...

Well, to be honest, one of my friends wanted me to ask. That's the way it happened with me, and she wanted to know how many others it happened to. No, I don't believe they have anything to do with eachother but I'm sure its what perked my intrest. (Swat Cats and Road Rovers was overkill, though.)

I guess I could say that Anime led me to anthro art which led me to the furry fandom which led me to finding my fursona which led me to find other furries which led me to finding out about anthrocon which led to making plans for anthrocn which led me to sit at the edge of my seat till the day it starts :3
