Not a furry version of WoW.
I've been a member of their forums for over a year now and I've seen little progress on the game, so it's either in really early production, or they're not sure how to move it forward.
Either way, the graphics look mediocre, the furry characters are even more 'ken doll' than WoW while the female models make Barbie look modest, and the buildings look like painted boxes. Nicely painted, but possessing no texture or depth. They're doing that to make the game run smoother.
BTW, most of the forum player-base is anti-Furry, believing that all we want to do in-game is yiff. I monitor the game a little, but when/if this game ever comes out, don't expect much out of it. Even the rare gameplay videos don't inspire me to think 'successful'.

permalinkYa, I read a interview they did where they talked about the furry community. Its rather amusing to see a game with anthro characters who's forum is anti-furry. Sort of like a girl i know at work, she's into anime and like anime animal people characters but states over and over that she hates furries. I got her to explain the differance one day and she said basicly that in anime you have humans with cat ears and tails and maybe whiskers or paws that act like animals, that makes it ok. So she'd hate a fursuiter unless they walked around with out their head on, then they'd be ok. Of course she wears a collar and makes cat noises now and then RL. Closet furry.
As for the game, its free, so what are you expecting for nothing? Looks like one of those game where a couple guys who knew how to program got together and wanted to see if they could mke some thing. I've looked into getting into the game design biz and unless you've got a mill or two laying around, your games are going to look like this.
We'll see, probibly in a couple years.

What a terrible shame. If she is into anime, she is obviously a closet pedophile, yes?

(note: this usually shuts the people who make snarky remarks about furries while wearing Inuyasha t-shirts right the the hell up)

So... it's okay when *she* does it. Got it.

permalinkAlot of her problem is a lack of infermation, her knowledge of furries stems from what she's seen on TV probibly. I let the topic drop with her and moved on to other things. But I have heard the anime vs furry fight before and it comes down to "Does the character have a human face?" Anime nuts accept one of two things, its either entirely animal (non-anthro) who talks or its a total human with a couple animal characteristics like ears or a tail.
When you point out anime movies which have characters who are fur covered but still humun looking, you get "That's just their skin color." And I tried bringing up Dragon Ball Z and was told "Oh, that's for little kids... That's why..."
SO any one want to draw up a t-shirt for folks to wear with a quick picture explaination of the differance between furry and anime? Some thing sarcastic maybe to wear to anime cons?
Any one gone to a anime con in fur suit? How's the reception to that? I wonder if you had two people go together, one dressed at Sesshomaru (InuYasha's half-brother) and the other dressed as Sesshomaru in his full demon form (a large white dog) if that'd be acceptable?

That's what venture capitalists are for. If you can put together a good enough game, you can get the funding to make it work. I'm moving that direction. The panel this year should be interesting. I do hope I'll see you there. As a fellow budding game designer, I wouldn't mind have a talk with you about ideas. Two heads and all that.
