Hey all. Another quick update from your Programming puppy. Anthrocon is coming up fast! Less than 40 days away! Can you believe it?!?! Well, I've received quite a number of panel requests in the last week with folks wanting to know if it's too late to get a panel in the schedule. Short answer is: It's not too late. I'm still accepting panel requests. Now here's the caveat. Many popular timeslots are filled. So in the form that I send anyone, I am still asking folks to indicate a preferred time/day, but I can't promise that I can get everyone the exact timeslot they want. (I'll do my aabsolute best though!) So..if you want to contribute to Anthrocon programming, don't be shy! We still have places available for many panels and SIGs! Some really interesting and exciting ones have come in recently. Some things you can look forward to: * A special event from the Radiofurs in conjunction with a national Field Day event. More to follow as the details are hammered out. * Results from Dr. Gerbasi's furry research study. Results from studies done in 2006 and 2007 will be available for discussion. * The cats have spoken! In reaction to the Husky Social, there will also be a "Cat's Rule" event. Yes, all the feline personalities will be able to get together for a fun, social meet and greet. * "Wood as Art" returns with 3 fandom-based woodworkers who will share a lot of knowledge and fun stories about this intriguing artform. Definitely something fun for the beginning and advanced woodworker! * "Commissions 101 for Artists and Fans" - This is a great new panel being offered to help both artists and fans select the right artists for their commissions, help artists set appropriate expectations and proces for commissions, and give general etiquette and guidelines for the process. If you're new to commissioning artists, or you're an artist and you're not sure if you're going about things the right way...this is definitely a panel for you! * Small Arms Illustrations - Have you wanted to complete the look of a warrior character? Do you have trouble getting those small arms to look just right with your character? This is a panel that will focus on giving your drawing that finishing touch to really make it shine! Some aspects of the panel that will be of interest to artists are: drawing realistic, safe handling techniques, drawing from photo references, and creating believable sci-fi weaponry for your furry character. * Copyright and Orphaned Works - How does new legislation affect your art and writing? This panel will attempt to clear up misunderstandings and give general information on copyrights. * Anthrocon's 12th Annual Fursuit Parade! YES, it's back and bigger than ever! There are some new twists and special plans for the fursuit parade this year. While details are being finalized..what we can say is: if you have a small FM radio available, you may want to bring it to experience the parade at its fullest! Whether you are a participant or an observer, Yappyfox and the parade crew are cooking up something to give you lots of smiles and fun at one of Anthrocon's signature events. It's your opportunity to see many of the beautiful and creative fursuits at Anthrocon in one big furry photo op! * Dances, Dances, Dances! - No matter what musical style you like, there is something to please you at this year's series of dances. Fandom DJ's from around the world will be converging on the Spirit of Pittsburgh Ballroom for several nights of music and fun. And of course there's much much more! These are just a sample of some of our panels this year. If you feel that you have something to share and would like to take part in Anthrocon's programming, please contact us right away. All programing panel requests must be submitted before May 28. That's only a little more than a week away! We can't wait to see you at Anthrocon, and I hope that you'll be as excited about our programming this year! It's going to be a weekend of nonstop furry fun...because after all, It's a Jungle Out There! KP |

Cool! Color me over-eager, but when will we know the final schedule? I have a friend that must leave sometime Sunday afternoon and I'm going to be in a panel then. He's not sure if he'll be able to attend it or not - I'd like to let him know the time so he can know if he can attend.

But you're all finger food for Dragons. Remember who sits at the top of every food chain. Dragons don't have ecologies, they ravage them.

Yea even us half-dragons have a say in things. I may be small, but I have sharp pointy teeth! On topic though, I noticed one of the new panels is done by the 'RadioFurs'? That wouldn't happen to be about HAM radio would it? I did hear field day mentioned. O.o

It would indeed. We've even had "foxhunts" in previous years with 1-2 dozen ham radio furries attending. Here's a pic from the 2006 foxhunt.

Last year, I set up a solar powered station on the rooftop of the convention center for demonstrating ham radio. This year due to Anthrocon falling on the same weekend as Field Day, we will be running a limited Field Day 2A (battery powered) station for approximately two hours at Anthrocon! We will give everyone a chance to make a contact! Stay tuned, there will be an announcement made to radiofurs and furryhams on LiveJournal and here as well.

Here's the stuff I'm doing:
GETTING STARTED IN SCULPTURE
Ready to make the leap to 3-D but not sure how to get
started? Clay and polymer clays are an easy way to get
started. This panel will cover the basics for making
your first sculpture. We’ll cover the strengths and
weaknesses of various materials, the basics on how to
build an armature (and what one is,) what tools you’ll
need, and some tips to get you started.
3-D ARTIST AND CRAFTSMAN ROUNDTABLE
Are you a sculptor, woodworker, potter, glassblower,
blacksmith, plush sewer, or other type of artisan that
works in the round? Come to this panel to discuss the
peculiar joys and perils of working in 3-D.
RAGE CCG DEMO & OPEN PLAY (offered twice)
Rage is a fast and furious game of werewolf combat
based on Werewolf: the Apocalypse. Experienced
players, stop by and check out a sneak peek of the
next set before it’s released! Novices, come by and
learn to play. Cards provided for new players.
More info on Rage: http://www.rainydaypaperback.com/rage.html
I'll be showing off the new set, Rainfall, which releases in June and offering players a sneak peek of the next set, Sahel, before it's released!
