There are only 2 weeks left to pre-register for Anthrocon 2008! On Friday, June 6, our pre-registration will close. Thereafter, anyone who has not purchased a membership will have to do so at the door. Pre-registration offers many advantages:

1) Shorter line for badge pickup.

2) Less expensive ($45 vs $50 at the door).

3) Pre-registered supersponsors get an invitation to the supersponsor luncheon!

Kage is too kind to mention this, but I will:

There's someone new in charge of Registration this year (namely, me). I and others are attempting to use old systems and create new ones, but it's going to be an interesting transition year. Our methods for handling Pre-registration at the convention are efficient and well-tested, and will carry forward; Our methods for on-site registration are halting, prone to riskiness and mechanical failure. We should manage it rather smoothly. but it's not certain.

In short, pre-reg is a really, really, really good idea this year to avoid the wait.

But if you're going Super Sponsor, the wait shouldn't be to much. right???

As Kage pointed out, because the hotel needs to know in advance how many are attending the Super Sponsor luncheon, if you do not pre-register for Super Sponsor you may not be eligible to attend. I nearly ran afoul of this last year.

Question about the luncheon: Is it free or is it going to cost me to get some grub?

It's included with the supersponsor membership.

Yes and I haven't yet received notice of the menu choices or anything. Have those been sent out yet or am I missing it?

Super-Sponsor and Sponsor upgrades or new purchases at the convention will receive front-of-the-line priveleges, as we do every year. That's one of the perks, absolutely! You will get to be the first people registered when on-site registration is up and running.

Of course, if you're pre-registered as a Sponsor or Super-sponsor, you'll have the shortest of waits; We'll be setting up again in the Butler room on Thursday, and that section of registration will always open first.

And as already mentioned, only pre-registered Super Sponsors get access to the luncheon. Pre-registration: it's not just a good idea, it's a good idea for me! ..er, and you too.

It is indeed, but it must currently be performed by postal mail. (Something we're working on correcting in the new 2009 system).

Please check out http://www.anthrocon.org/faq/registration#upgrades and send the check.money order to the address listed on http://www.anthrocon.org/contact/usps .

And you can upgrade from Attending to Sponsor, Attending to Supersponsor, Sponsor to SuperSponsor, or from any of these to My New Best Friend. (That last one requires art of mongoosebabes in bikinis)

So there's no way someone could update to Supersponsor AT the con? D:

If you pre-register you can upgrade your membership to Sponsor or Super Sponsor at con. However, if you upgrade to SuperSponcor 'At Con' rather than Pre-Reg, you will not be able to attend the "SuperSponcor luncheon" as the reservation numbers for that event would have already been sent in.

As Gizmo said, you'll be able to upgrade at the con (In cash, check, money order, Mastercard/Visa)[*1], but the SuperSponsor luncheon is only for pre-registered SuperSponsors.

[*1] If I recall correctly, we can not accept Discover/Amex/Diner's Club/etc; I may be incorrect in this but I urge caution.
