Hi all! D here. Just letting everyfur know that I have space in my room for 2/3 more furs! Thursday night/Friday night/Saturday night and Sunday morning. 3 nights. A few rules: - I'm a fursuiter, and will be bringing 2 suits with me. I'm very clean, and like to keep the hotel room that way. If anyfur is interested, please let me know. -Dusky |

i just hav a question why do a lot of people want 18+ only? i mean i know little kids can be a pain but there are responsible people under 18.

There are responsible people under 18, most certainly. But how do you tell in advance who is responsible and who is not?
Let us imagine that someone over 18 allows an under-18-person to stay in his room, and something dreadful happens. Whether it is the over-18-person's fault or not, he stands to be sued up one side and down the other.
A less likely, but no less worrisome eventuality is that the parents of the under-18-person may not be very warm to the idea, and may not even know. No one wants to take the risk that after kindly taking in a roommate, he'll find his door being battered down by police with an angry parent in tow shouting, "what are you doing with my kid in here????"
All of these have happened in the past -- not necessarily at Anthrocon, but even something that took place half a continent away and twenty years ago leaves a lasting impression on everyone.

To elaborate on what Sam said, under our legal system, persons under 18 are not allowed to make legal decisions for themselves. i.e., they cannot sign a contract, attend a convention without the approval of their legal guardians, etc.
What this means, in terms of sharing a room with someone over 18, is that in the absence of their parent or legal guardian being present, the over 18 person is seen as being held responsible for any trouble that the under 18 person may get into. It is a risk that many of us over 18 folk are not willing to take with someone whom we do not know.

Yes, 18+ is for my protection, and everyfur else's that will be staying with me. I'm not saying that minors cannot be mature, but for LEGAL reasons, no one under the age of 18 will be allowed to room, that is my decision. Sorry guys/gals
