Anthrocon features some of the most talented DJs in the Furry Fandom, but who are they really? We've been taking some time in recent weeks to let you know, in their own words, what makes them tick and what you can expect from their sets.

The con is almost here, and I've got another DJ bio for you! This one is another veteran of the Anthrocon dances, the "Master of Broken Beats", Tek-Fox!

Fandom Name: Tek-Fox
Real Name: Warren G
Stage Name: Tek-Fox
Age: 27
Influences: DSL, Ewun, Hive, Benga, Skream!, Aphex Twin, Hybrid, Pardus
Genre's Played: DnB, Breaks, Glitch, Dubstep
DJ Style: Anything it takes to get the job done, Turntables, Digital and Ableton

Biography:

Back, way back in highschool I hated electronic music. None of it made sense to me, the repetitive beats, the cookie cutter blips and beeps and bad female vocals that made up early electronic music turned my stomach. I was a metal head at heart (and still am!) but all that changed when I heard Aphex Twin for the first time. I remember it clearly, the track was ventolin and was I was riding the bus to school when my good friend Nick put his headphones on me and said, "you gotta hear this". I was blown away, who and what was this, how did they make those sounds, how did they think up those beats, what kind of effed up person would write music like this!? I listened to the album nonstop that day, and later recorded it onto a tape (yes, we didn't have CD burners back then ::old). I then started on a journey into this realm of sound innovation. My path continued on forward sticking mostly to IDM (read: arrogant prick electronic music) and labels like warp/rephlex/planet-u. Slowly (slowly!) I changed over to more trance/mainstream styled stuff in 2001.

In 2002 I found myself immersed in two different worlds which were both new and intensely exciting for me. January of that year I found furry, and it has been one of the best things to happen to me. Later that year, in September I picked up my first set of turntables and started to teach myself to spin. Pardus gave me a copy of Sunrise!, which is one of the best trance CD's I have ever heard, period. He was one of my early influences and was an inspiration by showing me that it was all within reach, that this isn't just a game for the big names, that locals can be extremely talented as well. We played many sets together while we were living in pseudo close proximity to each other, including the famed AC05 set which to this day has been the best time I have ever had DJing. A few years later I left trance and hardhouse (my secret shame as it is known around here) behind in favor of this new style of Drum and Bass. Techstep as it was called had evolved into something amazing, the production quality took a turn for the better and the music was some of the most innovative stuff out there to date. This took my DJing from a hobby to an obsession.

6 years, 15 furry cons, 3 fursuits, 4 turntables, 5 genres, 10 denver clubs, 0 regrets and a countless number of records later, we end up here. I've loved every second of my musical adventure, getting to play with Infected Mushroom, Spor and a few other big names in the industry have been absolutely amazing. Still, nothing compares to playing at conventions. Cons allow me to keep true to my calling, which has always been to introduce my musical passion into others furs and point them in new musical directions that they may not even know of, just like what happened to me on the bus in high school. Sure, I could play generic dance music to fill a floor for an hour, but that doesn't interest me. What I live for is the one fur who comes up to me afterwards and says, "I never even knew dnb existed and I've never danced so hard in my life", or "where can I find more dubstep/glitch". When I hear that I know I've done my job. There is so much out there and so much new stuff available every day we just gotta find ourselves in the right state of mine to love it.

______

That's it! A couple bios haven't been sent in to me, presumably the DJs are very busy preparing themselves with zen rituals for the inevitable roof-raising, but I'll post them later if they do manage to find their way to my inbox.

See you all at the con!

Not only is he a seriously talented DJ, but Tek's one of the most painfully sexy and unbelievably friendly foxes I know!

Make sure you check him out at AC!!!

Two men walk into a bar. A third goes around.

I had something more clever typed out but I screwed it all up, so feel free to disregard this comment. Or, if you prefer, enjoy a chuckle, and go about your day! Eye-wink

A piece of string goes to the bar, but sees a sign outside saying "NO STRINGS ALLOWED!" He decides to proceed anyway, and musses up his top and bottom ends. When he walks in the bartender yells at him, "HEY! Are you a string? We don't serve them here!" Without missing a beat, the string replies, "Sorry, partner. I'm a frayed knot."
