hey guys i know this is kinda close to go time but on another forum they are talking about heading to this paintball field they found close by for a few games during AC. I said I would ask here to see if any of you would be interested in coming. here is the link if you are curious http://riversiderenegade.com/field.htm The field looks to be less than 7 miles away. if you have your own stuff great if not no worries rental stuff will be there or if you can tell me in time I may be able to get my hands on something a little cheaper but YOU WILL HAVE TO BUY PAINT THERE ONE WAY OR THE OTHER it will be much less hassle to just rent from them after all is said and done (come to think of it they throw paint in that rental package too its looking better all the time) but i know some will want to I do not know if they will care about us bringing ears and tails my personal advice is DONT especially if this is your first time you will want to Wear clothes that you don't mind if they get VERY dirty and for most of us that dose not include our fur paint and woods are a bad combo for our tails and ears and it is quite possible they will be ruined please think about this before deciding on bringing them also they will not let you wear anything that will affect the mask so no full fur suits sorry (some ears will fit under some masks just fine i have tested this) the date for this has yet to be announced sorry i know this is getting down to the last min but i hope it will be fun |

permalinkI'm....Interested. I was looking at the website a few months back and pondering visiting. I'd have to see what the AC Schedule is first, as I dont want to miss too much of the con.
Do they rent CO2 bottles? If so I'll chuck my pump ad gogs in my bag, just in case something kicks off. Cant bring anything fancy as I'm flying from Britain and dont want to go over my weight restrictions.

And sometimes the US airlines can be a little iffy on what you pack with you, like a paintball gun.

I already encountered the problems with compressed air last time I flew my kit about. Had to borrow a bottle from a friend at the other end, hehe. And as for my markers...I got it out of Britain fine and dandy, but getting it back in was a pain in the tail. All because the manufacturers of the board (Who, I might add, were British) decided to include Automatic (Which is illegal in Britain) >_<
Oh, something I'm curious about: Would having a paintball marker in my hotel room violate the Anthrocon no weapons rule? If so, I'll leave it home and just use a rental from the fild.

If your marker is not assembled, not loaded (with paint or air), and kept in a closed container such as a bag at all times, you wouldn't have much to worry about. That would allow you to transport it to the field and back without raising hackles.
On the other hand, walking around the westin, or the DLCC, or even downtown pittsburgh with the marker, assembled or not, would be a terrifically bad idea.
So in short, no paintball guns at con. If your paintball gun never shows up at con, but shows up at a paintball field, that would not be a violation of the con's rules.
EDIT: You may want to check with the hotel, as well, to be sure you would not be in violation of any of their rules.

we were planing to leave our gear in the car till we drove to the field if you would like to throw yours in with us PS unclekage would this be ok with con rules??
however i hear flying with markers can be tricky if you would like i can try to get my hands on a specific marker i can bring for you i have a friend who is an air smith and has a wide selection i can probably get an A5 if you want it (probably around $15) if your really lucky i can score one with a response trigger. he has some pumps and stuff too never hurts to ask if you want a 98 custom your probably better just getting a rental from the field oh and of course we will give you a ride to the field if you chose to join us

permalinkI'll go for a Rental, hehe. I'm used to the 98 as I got a whole bunch of them hanging around the house...here there and everywhere. Will it be an all-day game or just the morning? (Dont want to miss too much of the con, even for paintball! hehe)

permalinkAye, I realised that. I have a set of ears that fit nicely under my goggles and wont get damaged by paintballs, but they'd make me overheat rather badly, so I wont be wearing them.
