It says right on the letter that you don't need it.

I didn't have time to read it through since I opened the mailbox a few minutes before going to work, but thanks.

You are not required to bring that confirmation letter; It is *advised* that you do, to be able to refer to it in case there is an issue with your registration. At the least, it's good to make a note of your badge number.
What we will require you to bring is your proper picture identification.

Good thing we don't have to bring it because I threw it out right after I got it...

permalinkReally? I always keep my stuff from every con. Even the con bag. The book, the schedule, all the smaller stuff I get from the dealer's den, all of it goes into little boxes labeled by year and stuffed into my "treasure chest". Every dragon needs his hoard right?

Well, we recommend you keep it. Consider the following conversation:
"Well, we don't seem to have you in the pre-registration book. How odd. Do you have your receipt?"
"Nnnnno, I left it at home."
"Well, did you make a note of your badge number? We can do a look up by that."
"It was one-thousand something. I think. I don't know it."
*deep sigh*
Now consider I've had this conversation in 2004. 2005. 2006. and 2007. I've had it enough times! Please preserve your pre-registration receipt, or at the least, preserve your registration email. It really does help you and us out if there's problems.
That said, it's not required you bring the receipt or such, and 99% of our Pre-Registered attendees have no troubles at all with presenting their Picture ID and getting their badge. Another 0.8% have very easily fixed troubles (Of the "You know, I thought a last name of 'Xavidson' was odd, but that's what you typed!" sort.) But there are always that tricky 0.2% who'd be helped by a receipt, and if they don't have it...

Then there was the guy with the last name of "Ejnsen, which I very helpfully corrected to "Jensen" for him, only to find out it really WAS "Ejnsen."
Moral: Ask first, then help.
