Hello everyone. This will be my first furry convention and I'm immensely happy to be attending and to have the chance to meet you. From what I see from just the forums, everyone seems very welcoming, fun and friendly. For years I've been going to the Otakon anime convention, but after last year I said to myself... "What am I doing...? I'm a furry!!" Sticking out tongue I've always loved and drawn anthros so I was really questioning myself as to why I've never been an active part of the community. So here I am, hopefully where I belong. Smiling I shall be dragging my boyfriend along who is really open to furries, and has even been inspired to run a furry D&D campaign. *guffaw* I have a lot of furry characters I relate to, but I don't really have a fursona. I know it isn't required in furry fandom, but I can't help feeling I'm missing out on something. Sticking out tongue Anyway, it's nice to meet you all and I look forward to possibly seeing you during the con!

I'm sure I'll see you at the "So this is your first Anthrocon" or whatever it's called panel, since it's mine too x)

I think fursonas are fun to have, and since you're an artist also you may want to try designing one Laughing out loud I recommend thinking about your favorite animal(s) or what animal(s) seem to have attributes that fit your personality and going from there.

I've been to Otakon before. Not a bad con.

If you haven't read the "New To Anthrocon?" article yet, I'd recommend it as a good starting point.

Other than that, welcome to the forums, and I hope you enjoy your first Anthrocon.

Vilsy,

Welcome to Anthrocon! I think you'll find us to be friendly and the weekend is shaping up to be a lot of fun. The "So this is your first furry con panel" is a good one to start with. It's right at the beginning of the convention, and can be quite entertaining as well as informative.

The best advice I can give, is to look in the programming guide and see what events you'd like to attend. Build your schedule around that, since you may meet lots of new folks with similar interests.

Also, don't forget some basic things like...eating and sleeping. Smiling Some folks really do get so excited and involved that they overlook little things like that.

Yes indeedy! Remember that a good number of us are of species that don't consider still being alive to preclude the designation of 'food', let alone something passed out from exhaustion on the side of the concourse. Please don't become Con Roadkill. Learn to eat and sleep regularly while at the con. Remember, predators go after the weak, sick, and young.

Thanks KP! The "So this is your first furry con" panel will definitely be on my list and I look forward to it. I can't wait to check out the rest of the programming guide as well! Getting the chance to see and listen to Mr. Norman will be a great honor!
