If your mate wants the tail, and you have the money to pay using Paypal...I may be willing to yank the auction, and give the tail to you for $50.
However, once the first bid is placed in the auction, this offer becomes null and void.
I do think if we had the materials and time to make more of this particular one it would sell well. Pictures don't do the piece offered on Furbid justice. The tail is so beautiful to look at in real life. However, selling tails this size and of this quality at $40 each wouldn't be cost-effective. The only way to make it so would be to cut down the size from 4.5 to 2.25, and then...it would be too short to really qualify as Snow Leopard.
Snow Leopards have huge tails! The tails tend to be as long as the body is. So if you make it too short it just doesn't look right...at least in my eyes and the eyes of my costume making partner.

For those who are curious, the tail has been bought! However, there are two new tails up for auction at Furbid, in time for AC so go check them out if you are interested. They are offered by the username (that Zeke and I share) of Aroundthefur at $30 each, while they last.
Both are soft, well made...and so bouncy to wear! They can have spots similar to the Snow Leopard tail put on them, if the buyer asks...and that will be free of charge. So it's not too late to get a Snowie tail...just buy the one of the tails that are up on Furbid and request snowie spots! They are no where near as long as the original one that was put up though.
