Has anyone had experience shipping luggage to the Westin? I'm considering doing so to save myself the hassle of carrying my bags with me ,and with the changing luggage policies it might be necessary for me to send one or two items. I can't help but be wary of the reliability, though.

What are the chances that my bag gets lost?

If the risk is small, i'll do it ,but it'd be nice to hear some experiences if poissible!

Thanks!

Do you mean lost by FedEx/UPS/DHL, or lost by the hotel?

If the latter, my suggestion on minimizing that would be to give the hotel a call and find out what their policies are for having items shipped. There may be a maximum number of days in advance that you can ship it, or it may have to be addressed a certain way, or something else entirely.

Actually the rules, charges, and everything you need to know for shipping items to the Westin can be found here. As for reliability, Fedex and UPS offer tracking numbers so you can at least follow your package. If you time it so that it arrives one day before your expected arrival date, you have a small buffer in case it gets delayed.

I have shipped a case to the Westin for the past two years via FedEx. Both years, FedEx has notified me that the case had arrived at the Westin but the Westin staff could not find it. Also both years it was in the little room just behind the bell desk in the lobby.
So if your shipment says "delivered" but the Westin can't find it, ask to be escorted to the room behind the bell desk.

This is why Anthrocon has requested that shipments be made through us. We have posted detailed instructions for doing so here.

There's also a FedEx location at 960 Penn Ave, very near to the Westin, which can receive your packages and hold them for you (Assuming you're shipping with FedEx, of course)

Here's their contact information, you should definately talk to them before expecting them to hold anything for you, of course:
