I- I- I- I'm OVERWHELMED
THERE'S SO MUCH TO DO
I WANT TO SEE EVERYTHING

Edit: What time will the Artists' Alley signups be on Friday?
Editedit: Also, how does the "fursuit friendly" dance differ from the other dances? I was under the impression that many fursuiters wore them for the dances whenever they felt like it?'
And can someone tell me what the Radiofur Fox Hunt is?

The Fursuit Friendly dance is DJed by Rory, and is in a nutshell, less "intense" than the normal dances. The volume is not as loud, the house lights are kept up but at a low level to make it easier to see in suit, and the music tends to be poppier.
Fursuiters are welcome to any of the dances, and non-fursuiters are welcome in the Fursuit Friendly dance!

permalinkThe fox hunt is amateur radio fans trying to track down someone with a
transmitter, maybe like hide and go seek. Video:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZRpAXKB4OdI
"A Fox Hunt is a sport where you track down a radio transmitter with an antenna. In the old days of course, you used hound dogs to track the fox. Here, the goal is to locate the transmitter somewhere at the convention."
I happen to be in radio of a different type--broadcast (at a college station since 1981)
but I know almost nothing about hams/amateur, etc. The best I could do is quote from
the youtube posting to help define it.

Should I point out the typos, or (1) is it too late (i.e., they've already been printed) or (2) did somebody else catch them already?

Please point them out now! They've not gone to the printer yet. One of the reasons we post the schedule a little earlier than press-date is so that we can get helping catching the many embarrasing up-too-late-typing errors.

But hey there's at least a thousand other things i can do in my fursuit while at the con.
-Zorin Fox
Also Kage, since im coming on wensday, its ok to explore the hotel insuit with my friends? And is there any way i can help set up for the con? (even though i know this has already been metioned in other posts...i just wanted to ask again)

Another question (sorry, sorry) -
Are the time slots divided like this:
(for example)
|_______8|PM______|
|8:00-8:30 | 8:30-9:00|
or like this
|_______8|PM_____|
|7:30-8:00 | 8:00-8:30|, etc.
Thanks, I am just trying to make an itinerary for myself since there's so much I want to do/see and I want to make sure stuff doesn't overlap too badly x_X

I had ass-u-med the former; I don't have last year's schedule handy to see how it was done then, but you might want to consider clarifying that somehow

That is one thing that get me a few times. Do those schedules mean 8pm or 9pm for the bar separator. I just looked at this one, I can see why there is that UI bug. Is there a better way to properly identify the time of the "bar"? The bug in this case was the bar :00 or :30

permalinkOk.
On Friday, the LARP is listed, if I am reading correctly, as 2pm-6pm. We should be
2pm-5pm, 3 hours, not 4 hours. (Maybe I'm reading it wrong.)
It's also "WereWolf:the Apocalypse", not "Werewolf of the Apocolypse."
(The format is Noun:the Adjective across the unified setting.)
If there's a problem rendering it "LARP-WereWolf:the Apocalypse", rendering it
"Laws of the Wild LARP" would work nearly as well.
(And, IIRC, how we've been listed the past few years.)
Thank you for accomodating the room request.

permalinkOk, the Animal Spirituality and Therianthropy seminar.
It's listed for the Cambria Room for Saturday 4pm-6pm.
(Which is almost exactly my ideal choice, which was 3pm-5pm.) No problems there.
However,
the same panel is listed for the Cambria Room for Sunday 10am-Noon.
Is someone else running a panel with the same name/subject?
If not, sorry, we can't do an encore performance at that time.
(Which would mean the Sunday panel by that name needs to be deleted.)

My reading of the schedule shows "LARP: Werewolf of the Apocolypse" running from 2pm till 5pm on Friday. The name is wrong, but I'm sure that they'll fix it
- Login or register to post comments
permalinkNow that I've had some sleep, yes, the time for the LARP WAS correct and I misread it.
The name correction is pending, which, I expect, is easier.
I'm more concerned about that Sunday listing for a SECOND panel on AS&T, but I expect
that will be easy to fix also. (Unless someone else really DID put in to run one.
If so, I'd have been interested in coordinating with them to make one panel, better than
either individual panel would have been.)

Wow look at all the pretty colors. That just made my day.
Its slightly confusing to read then last years. I'm amusing another one like it will be posted up here pretty soon complete of whose teaching it and a description?
BTW shouldn't that be Super Smash Brawl instead of Super Smash Melee in there?

Great job KP for putting that schedual togather! Theres one panel I don't quite agree with and don't really see it as a nessasary one to have, but thats just my opinion!

permalinkThis is an early draft, not the completed schedule. We're proofreading it so that the
completed schedule will be improved.
If you want the pretty ones, I'm confident they will be posted with the next week or so
in PDF form or whatever, and the identical version will be in dead tree form and handed
to you at Registration.
That will include a Program Guide (who's teaching, description) and an easier-to-read
grid (the Pocket Reader.)

Looks awesome, cant wait! Small question though. "Fursuit Performer - Beginner". I wont have my fursuit for about another year, can non suitors attend this or would it be better if I wait till im in suit?
Thanks!

Yep =) Usually panels like that have one or two people up front showing off moves, or general discussion on how to act out a roll in suit =)
- Login or register to post comments
permalinkI'd be shocked if they threw you out.
Yes, they'd understand you'd be practicing moves for when you HAD a suit. Not wearing
one while listening and learning their basics may help a lot. Just go, pay attention,
try to learn, and remember to have fun!
Oh, and being on time for the panel always helps.

OK, that grabs my curiosity - what is the subject focus here?
I would gather some sort of Anthropomorphic Railroad Blend, but all that comes to mind is "Thomas, the Tank Engine", or something. Or is this, like the "Radio Fox Hunt", just a way to tie in two hobbies together? Is this more of a panel on Railfanning, or general Railroad Lore kind of thing?
I would love to see a Furry Convention that had a Railroad Theme, but while I can think up all sorts of neat props and substitutions of railroad jargon for common things, I haven't really been able to make a justification for mixing the two; CaliFUR did a "Steam Punk" theme this year, but essentially, one genre became a veneer for the other, there really wasn't any compelling "mix" of the two.
I AM interested in what the topic is about, though - and IF I can get suitable travel arrangements finally nailed down, and DO actually get there this year, I would like to see your panel.

The Rails & Tails panel is simply a panel for furries who are interested in railroading; whether it be model trains or the 12-inches-to-the-foot scale.

More of a way to tie the two hobbies together.
We will have a mixture of both model railroading and real railroading. I work for Amtrak and volunteer for the Cape May Seashore Lines. We will cover railfanning and lore as well as helping those getting started in the model railroading hobby.
There was a RnT panel at MFM and might be one at MFF. :=3
As for a fur meet with a definite railroad flavor, you have to make it to the Cape May Fur Meet (http://www.capemayfurmeet.biz - for now). I am the host and meet coordinator, and we use a chartered train, when possible, as part of the meet itself. For part of the run I am the engineer. :=3

Last year there was a photographer taking pictures of the fursuits. Will that person be here again this year?
And how does the fursuit parade work?
And it's kinda hard to read the schedule at times, around when it hits Saturday.

The fursuit parade is what it sounds like.
Anyone in a fursuit, who wants to, assembles at the appointed time and place. Then we march around the convention center to much picture taking.
We normally assemble on an outside balcony for a photograph. The photographer is on the opposite side of the river to get us all in. :=3

I was that wolf taking the photo across the river. Here is the pic I put together last year.

permalinkAnyone can take pictures of the fursuiters so long as they are in public areas.
So, there's HUNDREDS of people taking pictures at SOME point.
The schedule allowed for specific photo sessions, if I read correctly.
So, it's likely whoever you meant is actually on the schedule.
If not, he's probably going to be set up somewhere.
The fursuit parade is an indoor parade of fursuiters marching, with bystanders
taking photos.

You are referring to Kreggan, who will once again be providing posed fursuit pictures, and should have a similar setup as last year. He'll again be assisted by Warphammer, who is the official photographer for FCN.

I'll add panel descriptions since I got 'em for the stuff I'm running. I'm the host for all of 'em:
GETTING STARTED IN SCULPTURE
Ready to make the leap to 3-D but not sure how to get started? Clay and polymer clays are an easy way to get started. This panel will cover the basics for making
your first sculpture. We’ll cover the strengths and weaknesses of various materials, the basics on how to build an armature (and what one is,) what tools you’ll
need, and some tips to get you started.
( I have 8 years experience, you can see examples here: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/fenrislorsrai/ )
3-D ARTIST AND CRAFTSMAN ROUNDTABLE
Are you a sculptor, woodworker, potter, glassblower, blacksmith, plush sewer, or other type of artisan that works in the round? Come to this panel to discuss the
peculiar joys and perils of working in 3-D. I'll be moderating and have a general list of roundtable discussion topics that I'll modify on the fly depending on who comes.
Hey Fursuitors! If you're thinking of including sculptural or unusual craft elements in your suit, this is a good place to come meet people that work in a related field. Find somebody to make those custom glass eyes, horns, or forge you custom buckles.
RAGE CCG DEMO & OPEN PLAY (offered twice)
NOTE: You don't have to attend both! Also, if you have to leave for the mature auction halfway through, let me know and I'll work around it.
Rage is a fast and furious game of werewolf combat based on Werewolf: the Apocalypse. Experienced players, stop by and check out a sneak peek of the next set before it’s released! Novices, come by and learn to play. Cards provided for new players.
More info on Rage: http://www.rainydaypaperback.com/rage.html
And extra sneaky fun, the newest set, Rainfall, releases TOMORROW, Friday the 13th. I'll have that available to play with at the demo, PLUS I'll have a sneak peek of Sahel which is currently in Alpha testing. You'll get the first look at it!

Pre-reg only ends in the Allegheny Ballroom at that time. It's so we don't have to wait in the regular lines.
You will, I believe, still be able to pick up your badge at the regular reg area on the third floor. Uncle Kage, Giza, or Bennie care to expand on this?
