Really? I've already started having dreams about the con... even though this will be my first time attending Anthrocon so you can imagine how little sense the dreams actually make. Suffice to say I'm pretty stoked about going, as only a first timer could be.

Do you still love the old Sonic the Hedgehog Saturday Morning cartoon? I sure do.

permalinkYou too? I've had bizarre dreams about it for going on six months now. The latest was that we got there and it was storming -- woke up in the middle of a very loud Thunderstorm.

Well , it wouldn't be so crazy .
Last ear there was that huge storm on the first day.
Me and and two of my friends were on the highway trying to get back to the hotel from the airport .. it was HELL

permalinkI drove in that
There were pop-ups all over the place in the three hours I was on the road. Had to pull over twice.
This year I'm leaving work early, though, so I ought to be able to beat the weather unless it rains nonstop
Gotta love being able to set your watch by Midwest summer storms.

I've been coming since 2001, and I'm still as excited about this year as I have been about every year. Even though I had a miserable time last year (everything planned fell apart at the last minute and I spent most of my time bored), I'm still excited about coming this year. I have a lot more official events in my schedule, so I know they won't bail at the last minute without telling me. Plus I have a cell phoine this year, so I can find people when I need them.

Pick up a six pack or two, or just grab a random bunch of liquor, come back here, unscrew the caps, start chugging, and maybe then AC wont seem so boring.
I actually feel the complete opposite; Ive got butterfly's in my stomach (or should I say dragons in my stomach) and even now I have difficultly sleeping. This is probably due to that its my first con and meeting everyone I've known online... an exciting adventure waiting. Perhaps you've been to the con before and know what to expect that its not all that great? I would find that a lil hard to believe but you never know...

permalinkI'm just the same, Butterflies in...everywhere! Bouncing off the walls, Bouncing around the office....there's nobody in my office who doesn't know absolutely EVERYTHING about Anthrocon due to my bouncing! Memories of last years AC are making it even worse...if I take a nap, I'm garunteed to dream about AC. At night, I dream of AC....Anthrocon FTW!

You come for your friends, and to have a good time.
You come to make friends, and to feel better.
You come to Anthrocon to share the same ideas of others, and explore new possibilities in the culture.
You come to learn, and to experience.
You come to escape the torment of everyday life, and for just a few moments, you're freed from the shackles of work.
You come because you want to, not because you have to.
You come because... we want you to.

Don't feel bad, for some reason I don't feel like going to AC been that way for a few days now. Last year I wanted to go so badly and when things went poot I was crying and my friend picked up the pieces and dragged me along on his own money.
This year I have my own money, able to buy my own food and stuff from the dealers room. I should be glad right? .. Eh.. Things should change when I get up there, if not I know a few fursuiters who will give me a swift smack and go .. Jolt, enjoy yourself or we will eat you!

This year is the first year I've been this excited leading up to the con.
Generally, for me, I wind up slowly rethinking as I drive up. "Shit. A furcon? What am I -doing!?-" I walk in the door and everything's cool again.
There really, really is nothing better than the feeling of arriving in the AC lobby and seeing the numbers start to build. I can't compare it to anything on earth, it's just like... you know there's five straight days of zero responsibility, crazy fun and absolute surreal happenings starting RIGHT NOW.
I am just ITCHING to feel that again, it's been long enough.
I honestly feel sorry for Kage and Giza and the rest of the staff. I'm sure they have PLENTY of fun doing their jobs, of course, but really I can't imagine the first thing they feel walking in the door is that absolute heavenly relief of an entire year of stress. I don't get it at any other con, either.

Well, let a longtime staff guy put it this way:
Picture a yearly family reunion. This year it's at Aunt Susie's, and tons of relatives are there, from the grandparents to the young cousins to the new in-laws you're just meeting. Aunt Susie's got a lot to do.. cleaning out the place, cooking the huge family dinner, making sure the spare room is ready for guests, making sure cousin Timmy isn't playing with the lawn darts, keeping Uncle Doug from having too many beers before dinner, etc. There's a lot of work for Aunt Susie to do! But there's no question Aunt Susie has so much joy from seeing everyone arriving, everyone she hasn't seen in a while, meeting new family members.. she's just as glad as everyone else, if she's working hard. So think of Anthrocon staff like Aunt Susie. There's joy, even if it isn't 'relief' so much as 'success'.
And next time you're at a family reunion, help your Aunt Susie do the dishes.
