When I call for a luggage handler with a cart on Monday morning, the reaction is usually hysterical laughter or intense sobbing. I was wondering if it's possible for the hotel to bring in extra staff and carts for the mass exodus that is always Monday morning? |

The Westin Hotel, having a finite budget and a finite amount of storage space, would very likely find it difficult to get another 10 luggage carts for 'just a weekend'. Also, where would 'extra staff' come from? They cannot hire folks for just one day, or even for one convention's duration, and get quality personnel. Nor would it seem feasible for them to transport them in from the nearest Westin, four hours away in Philadelphia.
This being our third year in Pittsburgh and involved with both the Westin and Omni hotels, both of these hotels have been making quite solid accommodations to Anthrocon attendees, and are likely restructuring the workweeks of staff to better accommodate a hotel-filling event. I have little doubt they are doing all they reasonably can.

Good Morning
Please note the hotel tries our best to accommodate everyone's request for assistance. We make sure we staff to the best of our ability, but as you know when all guests are requesting the same service at the same time, unfortunately some guests will need to wait for the service. Please be patient with us and we will make sure to accommodate you as soon as possible.
Thank you

Here's a suggestion that's served me well in past years: Pack and load everything in your car that you don't need in the morning (fursuits and laptops in particular) on Sunday night, before bed. That way, you can load your car in a relatively calm environment, you have extra time to make sure you didn't forget anything, and it's highly unlikely that you'll have more than you can carry in one trip left in the morning.
Of course, this doesn't help much if you're flying, but if you drove to the con, it really does make a difference. I've pretty much given up on the idea of waiting until first thing Monday morning to pack and load everything.
