I know that Mark Evanier had written about his experience: I recently found out that Jeff O (from Anthrocon 2006, I think) had written some things at a forum: http://www.oddballcomics.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=258&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 Scott Shaw! had mentioned that he planned to write as well but I didn't see his report there and I'm not sure he ever got around to writing it. Does anyone know? Also does anyone know if any of our other guest of honors have written about their experiences at Anthrocon? |

Scott meant to write nice things, but he got busy after the con and didn't get around to it. He did, however, give us a nod in the Captain Carrot comic. In a scene that takes place in a furry version of the gigantic San Diego Comic Con, there are groups of critters that dress up as various types of vegetable. They are, of course, the "Veggies."
Stan Sakai in 2004 wrote a report that can be found at http://www.gagneint.com/Final%20site/misc/fan%20art/Sakai/stan's%20Anthrocon%20Report.htm . (careful - that apostrophe tends to mung the board code).
Michel Gagne in that same year wrote this.
The fact that many guests like Stan, Josie DeCarlo, Scott and others have a habit of coming back on their own makes us very, very proud of our little gathering!

Thanks very much! I am very proud to be a part of the fandom but I also think it might be neat to place all the Anthrocon reviews by guests in one place so I'm trying to find them.

Here's what Floyd Norman had to say; his blog doesn't appear to have archives, so I'm copying/pasting them here; if that's bad form, I'm sure Kage/Giza will delete them...

I haven’t been blogging the past few days because of a busy schedule and sketchy Internet access. Hopefully, I’m back online even though this post is a bit late.
I’ve joined my old pal, comic book artist and writer, Stan Sakai at Anthrocon here in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, and we’ve been having a grand time. Dr. Sam Conway is the brains behind this incredible enterprise, and he’s been the perfect host. Since our arrival, Adrienne and I have been pampered like movie stars here at Anthrocon.
I’ve spent the past few days talking comics and animation, as well as getting my first look at the city of Pittsburgh. I’m enjoying the weather even though we had a rather stormy first evening.
Having worked on several Disney films, I found that “The Jungle Book” and “Robin Hood” remain the favorites here at Anthrocon. Fans continue to tell me how much they love these two animated movies.
Over at PNC Stadium Pittsburgh beat the New York Yankees. That’s always a good thing.

I'm finally back in town. I've been spending the past few days at Anthrocon in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, talking with fans and young people anxious to get into the cartoon business.
The gentleman sketching at the table is Stan Sakai. Stan created the fascinating comic book character, Usagi Yojimbo. Stan is a wonderful artist and a great story teller. I've been reading "Usagi" for years. I think Stan probably had his hands full dealing with the fans, and keeping an eye on his teenage daughter, Hanna.
At the time I took this photo, my wife, Adrienne was awarding the Art Shows' first prize to a talented young woman. I gladly turned the judging duties over to my wife because unlike myself, she's a real artist. The young artist was practically speechless when awarded the prize. It was very sweet.
I did a lot of speaking at the con, and I reminded the fans that I would also be speaking at ComicCon International in San Diego next month, so be sure to catch my show in July.
I'm beginning to feel like a Vegas lounge act.

One [final] post from Anthrocon in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Our illustrious judge, Adrienne has made her choice. The talented young woman on the left takes the grand prize. From left to right, we have our winner, the Art Show Director, our judge, Adrienne and the gentleman responsible for this incredible enterprise, Dr. Sam Conway.
It seems I spoke every day of Anthrocon. With breakfast meetings, lunch, and talks in the convention center, they really kept me busy. Yet, through it all I never felt exhausted or wiped out. Unlike my days at ComicCon International in San Diego, this con was almost relaxing. Five days in San Diego usually leaves me in need of a vacation.
I confess, I was almost sad to leave on Monday. Everyone did their best to make our stay in Pittsburgh a wonderful experience. Thanks again to fearless leader, Dr. Sam Conway and his hard working and dedicated staff for putting on a truly great convention in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Thanks! I saw that on the front page too
I sorta wish he had a bit more to say on the con itself or the folks he met besides Uncle Kage *blushes* It's nice he seemed to enjoy himself so much, though.

I think Stan comes back every year because his daughter might kill him if he doesn't. I saw that girl everywhere. o.o
