Hi, all. This is my first furry con! Additionally, I made my own fursuit. I feel really shy about my fursuit, compared to ones made by Joecifur or Mixed Candy. Has anyone ever seen another fur taunted because someone else doesn't like their suit? I am a little apprehensive-- especially since it is my first. [ It's a partial.. ] Thanks. -Lady |

Although this is my first con, I highly doubt anyone will jeer your suit (aside from the /b/tards). If anything I'm sure people would be more than willing to offer additional help in areas that may need it.
I've only heard positive things about AC. Hope you have fun and possibly meet ya.

I think I have you beat. I'll be hooking up with two friends at Anthrocon who happen to be into the furry scene. So this will be a totally new experience for me. That and the most I have to start with is a basic black spandex catsuit with no fur in sight...at least, for the time being.
I've had a similar experience when I first became a rubberdoll thinking that "it won't be good enough". And, to extent, it is good enough. And certainly we all have to start somewhere. It's from that stepping stone that you're able to progress further to the next step. And it does get easier.
So don't worry. You'll be in great company full of people willing to give you an assist. And I'm sure I'll be positively knocked out as to how absolutely fantablous anyone can look as a furry creature.
Have a glovely furry day!

permalinkI've never seen any fur taunted for any fursuit. (Not that I'm an expert.)
Considering the number of people who walk around with just ears and a tail
(and normal street clothes, of course), any fursuit seems a lot less silly.
AnthroCon, in general, is a lot "safer" than most places you're used to-
it's one of the reasons people don't want to go home after the convention...

Unfortunately there are some jerks which have been taunting new fursuiter makers. The fursuit forum has a few scattered posts here and there about people taunting others because of little things, of which I try to give positive mental encouragement to the people they do a good job. Afterall, if a fursuit head is SOOO terrible, I'd like to see the person who is doing the taunting make a fursuit!
I also want to mention, just because a suit is "done" doesn't mean you won't go back and make changes later on. I definitely will be making a better tail and glove set after the con. To be honest my suit was a bit rushed because my life is so busy with work. Many fursuiters who make their own suits go back and work on them, or even send them to someone to have them work on them. Antimon has his suit maintained every so often. A fursuit is like a car, sure it looks pretty when you first buy it, but you always want to make changes.

don't be shy about it. I'm sure it looks awesome...and anyways, it looks better than us in plain street gear, right? I might even pull out my mighty mouse halloween costume...yellow spandex body suit...little red spandexy short thingies...red pleather cape...mouse ears and white gloves...If anyone makes fun of you find me and they will make fun of me instead.
I can take it...I'm a 25year old guy in spandex, dressed like a mouse...I've been through worse than a little teasing.

I have a great deal of respect for people who sit and make their own suit instead of blowing thousands on a professional commission.

Rest assured, there will be fursuits made by individuals and professionals at the convention. They will have all manner of appearances and designs. I myself made my very first costume, and several years later, I nicknamed him "Frankenpup" because the very short fur that I used didn't hide one very large seam very well. So it looked like he had a big scar running up the side of his head. XD
But to the point, don't feel intimidated. You've done a fine job by creating your own costume. If you want tips for improving, ask one of the fine builders at the convention. I know that Kodi, who built one of my costumes, will be attending, and he's always happy to give input and advice should someone need help.
