If you want to help out, stop by Con Ops. We might find something for you to do. Smiling

I'm sure you can ask the hotel to watch your bags, check by at their customer service desk in the lobby area.

You can also ask your friend who owns the room, to add you to the hotel's list for guests staying in that room; that way when your room becomes available, you can move your things into it.

Not exactly true. I'm on my friends guest list, but I won't be able to check in, Im pretty sure the person who has the reservation has to be the one to do that. The other guests can only check in once the main reservation guest checked in.

I cannot speak specificly to the policies of the Anthrocon hotels, but the situation you describe is very much the exception rather than the rule. At least four times a year I book a hotel room with friends coming from elsewhere. As long as I tell the hotel in advance who the other people are and they have a credit card for incidentals, it all works fine. Without a card for incidentals, it might be another story.

I haven't needed to try it, but if his name HAS been added to the room (as in,
get his friend to add it), I believe the hotel should be able to put his luggage
away for him for a few hours, marked for that room, the same as if he arrived
before the room was ready. Then he could show up at ConOps without luggage.

This usually is not the case. I recall for MFF, I was not the person making the reservation but I was the first to arrive, and got into my room with no difficulty.

I would give the hotel a call and check their policy, but If you are one of those listed for the room, I highly doubt they will make you wait for the person whom made the reservation. (You might have to wait for the room to become available, though.)

A volunteer who shows up to conops at 6AM might get handed money and sent out for coffee.

If he returns with coffee, he will be worshipped unmercifully.

If he returns without coffee, he will be thanked profusely and commiserated with.

If he does not return with our money, he will be hunted down, ground, and percolated.

Yes, I'm bringing a grinder.

lol to get up there THAT early would take a big poke of my mom in the eye and yelling, but I should if things go right be up there before lunch, so I could be a lunch runner XD

Would you then put the grindings in the coffee maker? I'm sure most furries blood stream is 50% caffeine...

Does that 6AM thing go for all days of the con? I'll probably still be runnin on British time, so 4-5AM will be my regular wake up time. might as well do something?
