I'm not sure if it's entirely true, but my pack and I are driving through NJ to get to AC from NY. I had just found http://community.livejournal.com/li_furs/208817.html?view=1311665#t1311665 this LJ posting.

I know people LOVE to speed on the turn pike at 80 mph on a 65 mph highway. It's too easy to because it's a straight away. I know many furs are stretching it to make it to AC in the first place and tickets will kill you X3. I just hope everyone makes it there safely. <3

THAT'S INSANE!
I know cops are anal at quota time but holy... I'm afraid of drving through Jersey now, I;ve been pulled over for speeding before but the officer also accused me ofhaving out of state plates adn driving a "suspicious" cop car, specifically a "drug running car." and this was in NY, NJ is evil.

Yea, I'm driving 5 under the speed limit in this case. But won't that mean I'm at risk for getting run over?

a word of advice, don't hit the brakes, cause that means 1. i am indeed speeding and 2. it also leaves room for the cop to guess you were going faster. a good idea for you stick people, is to downshift, you slowdown and no brake lights, works for my friend, who goes 45 in school zones.

That does work in an automatic, too, it's just not as standardized/obvious of a procedure.

Cops in Texas can be evil too, especially in urban areas such as Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston. I don't know if I should be glad or worried that my town has one of the most lenient officers on the force Ive ever seen.

glad! why would that be a bad thing? I mean we're not talking Reno 911 lenient are we? A cop you can make laugh and joke around is a good thing cause I've had the opposite.

This appears to be a hoax.

You should still obey speed limits, or you run the risk of getting a ticket.

This appears to be a yearly thing!!!!
I'm from Jersey and go down at least twice during the summers to hit the shore and I've noticed a pattern that happens every year around this time. Last year there was a RUMOR that as of July 6th or something they were increasing the fine for speeding by some rediculous amount. Once again it never happend. I don't know who puts these things out, but it does tend to scare a lot of "out of staters" who plan to drive through the state I've noticed.....maybe that's the point. WE DON"T WANT YOUR KIND Sticking out tongue just kidding Jersey takes anyone and everyone hehe

Also keep in mind that if you're going upwards of 80 mph that your car is burning through a lot more gas than it would goin 60-65, so it doesn't pay to speed however way you look at it.

I ride down Rt 38 to go over the Ben Franklin Bridge.

You can't possibly get up to 80 on that road with all the traffic. You're lucky if you manage to make it to the speed limit most days. Sticking out tongue

Hehe, outisde of rush hour, if you're not going 80 on the highways around here then you'll be getting passed left and right XD

Going east to west is awful in Central Jersey. Your only options are Rts 130, 70/73, and 38. All have a billion traffic lights and go through an ever-increasingly densly populated suburban sprawl.

It's kinda getting like Rt 1 in Philly trying to get to the Art Show equipment during rush hour.

Over 45 minutes to get from Camden to the 295 overpass if you drive between 3:30 and 6 PM during the weekdays, a trip that should take a little less than 20 mins at the speed limit of 50 mph.
