Some people were asking about where to get good beer in Downtown Pittsburgh during the con. Here are a few of the places I visited that passed muster. For Science, of course. Cigar Bar Market Street Ale House The Cigar Bar and the Market St Alehouse are located in the same building in Market Square. As the name implies The Cigar Bar features a large selection of cigars for your smoking pleasure. Their list of draft beers changes often. Both these establishments still allow smoking. August Henry's City Saloon August Henry's has good food. And they sell good draft and bottled beers. And they are right down the street from the convention. Go there, you will like it. The last time I was there they had smoking and none smoking sections. Six Penn Kitchen Six Penn Kitchen is a very nice looking place with two levels. They have only 6 taps but these are devoted to craft beers. I was suprised to find Arrogant Bastard on tap. (No, the beer wasn't named after me.) I've never eaten there but Ive heard the food is very good. Tonic Bar & Grill Tonic is right across the street from The Westin and they have several taps of craft brewed beer. The Backstage Bar at Theater Square Due to the fact that Theater Square regularly hosts Beer School, the Backstage Bar stocks an ever changing selection of bottled craft brewed beers. The Sharp Edge Beer Emporium I know it's not downtown but it is my favorite bar. The feature 50 plus taps of foreign and domestic beers, specializing in Belgian beers. They have a huge selection of bottled beers. The Sharp Edge Beer Emporium is having its annual Great European Beer Fest this weekend. There are two sessions on Saturday and one on Sunday. There will be almost 100 different beers to sample. |

Thank you good sir *claps his hands*
That's a great, defining list. I will enter many of them, for research purposes naturally, to compare Finnish and American establishments

Nice list there. I will definitely be checking out several of those places. I wouldn't mind meeting up with someone or even several people to do so.
Anyone interested? I'll give you a way to get in touch with me, if anyone is.
