Last year there were several articles about the con in various newspapers. I'm not sure if there will be many this year but if anyone becomes aware of any please post them here. I've been trying to search for Anthrocon in the news but I tend to get last year's articles or referred back to here. This may also serve the purpose of helping keep articles in one easy-to-find place, since I know several furries had expressed interest in writing academic papers on furry. |

Only new one I've found so far is this one from Cracked:

It's seriously the BEST article I've ever read bashing AC ever. Plus the last line is priceless. (NSFW language) I'm pretty angered by a ton of articles that put AC in a negative light, but this is just damn funny.

I saw that one. They bash every con on there pretty equally so it doesn't really phase me. I have to agree, the last line amuses me too. They pretty obviously have not actually attended any of these cons with any sort of neutrality ahead of time (if they attended at all).

I don't know about that... The line:
"... (A)nd enjoy anthropomorphic animals to a greater or lesser degree of creepiness as appeals to the individual."
Certainly shows that someone along the line did their homework about furries being really mad about being lumped into one entity.

But in that he basically says that enjoying anthropomorphic animals to any degree is innately a creepy thing to him.
While I can understand to a degree how something like this might happen (after all, there are some folks that find clowns innately creepy) it doesn't allow for a non-creepy enjoyer of anthropomorphics to exist. It also suggest that attending any furry con would just reinforce the creepiness to him even if other folks might not find it that way.
