I am not sure, who built the PVC cooling rig in the headless room, but this was the best thing I have ever seen for the fursuiters ! What a great idea, so simple and yet so effective. It was a real godsend, in cooling off after a hard romp.

Thanks

Someone stole triggerhappysquirrels design from FC Smiling but made it
bigger but less fancy

I saw the rig. Were there holes in the angled pipes on which heads were placed? It seemed to me that the electric fan served only to push air through that flexible hose at the top (that suiters then push into their mouth or wherever), thus making most of the rig basically a fancy coat rack.

(The flexible hose was indeed helpful, but I thought the whole idea of the rig was to force air into whatever was placed upon the angled pipe sections.)

Howdy, the pipes not in use get a cap gently applied as to save the breeze, though a small improvement was suggested, sort of a spacing collar around the end of each pipe that wouldn't interfere with the cap and would help to prevent a head pushed too far down from just blocking the airflow.

The smaller tubes uncapped seemed to also work great stuffed up a sleeve and the flexy
tube also was enjoyed stuffed in a muzzle, collar or sleeve, or just directed against the fur for some direct local cooling.

One trick was not ramming the caps on, seems only one cap got jammed and took a bit of a tweak to remove.

Ohhh, the caps were removable! That explains it, then. I missed that bit.

Yeppers! good to see folks using the big red bucket to store
caps and such. Hmm, someone else that only lives 30 mins away.

Thank you very much for putting the rig together, Panzier...AND for donating it to Anthrocon so we can use it next year!

Comes with a lifetime service contract too Smiling

I wasn't sure how Anthrocon was for storage space and was glad
that there was that leeway that allowed it to be accepted. Also
with careful application of the bungee cord, it'll bundle up that
one person can carry it, fully assembled it slides over carpet
like a dream.

If there's room, and if there's a need, I'd love to make one with
just a little more wind power, a few extra ports, maybe a few more
of the super popular snorkels. Both lounges could have used one.
Something happened Sunday where the whole hotel seemed a little
wetter/hotter than before.

Would love any other comments for improvements. I have a few
suggestions in the mix already, more are welcome!

Also saw a LJ or something that involved a little discussion about the
rack, if anyone has that link I'd be happy for that input as well.

Hey, do you have a picture of it? Obviously a pic of it not in the headless lounge as I don't think camera's are allowed in there.

Aye, have a pic at home, I know a few folks took pics in the active lounge and
were considerate enough to just get 10 heads on the altar without breaking the
magic.

Here is a picture of it in operation, with all headless suiters edited out. The black and white fox head with the long black hair closest to the camera is mine.

That was YOU who set it up? It was a pure godsend to cool off while still in suit. Thank you.

Not all the caps were easily removable, however. One was so badly stuck on that some thought it had been glued on. I had to get Dorsai help to get it off.

someone mentioned that while I was watching the internets room. suggested using a spare tube slid alongside the first to tap the cap free.

I'm thinking that a sleeve slid over the tube with drilled holes through both would help to dry heads better and a small twist of the sleeve would block the side holes.

Sleeve could be retained with a small pin or plastic dowel to allow say 15 degrees rotation to cover/uncover holes.

With heads mounted on all ports, the backpressure keeps enough air flowing everyplace, if you uncover all and then put a head on one, you don't get much flow.

Still brainstorming, V1.1 works well. (with V1 being Triggerhappy Squirrels one)

I'm not complaining as it ended up being slightly amusing watching everyone try to get the cap off it. I wonder if the Dorsai who finally did ought to be crowned king. Eye-wink

I'm not quite sure what you're suggesting with the rest, but I do know my friend mentioned that his head needed to be at an angle so the air could circulate better and not hit the foam directly (which I think could lead to cracking - I'm not sure ask some suiters on this). I did have a hard time keeping his head at the right angle, mainly because for some reason the weight of the head seemed to keep pulling the tube out.

I've seen those PVC trees at a couple cons. I don't remember who was the first to come up with the idea.

Due to me acquiring a few blower motors that hook directory to PVC pipe. I will be building a couple fan PVC trees. I'm doing a slightly different design that doesn't require any caps and can be broken down into a large duffel bag for transporting to different cons.

It goes to saying that I will be letting the various cons use them free of charge. Smiling

Innovation is awesome! I was thinking of one powered by a 2hp blower.

The section of vac cleaner hose seemed to be a bigger hit than expected
so was thinking of increasing the number to four. Plus you don't have
that whole umm, transportation restriction, ya bastid Smiling

I was thinking of a sleeve over the outlet tube, that can rotate a few
degrees, holes drilled through both and rotation will cover/uncover holes.

Caps seemed to work okay but could be better. The only things glued were
the x base, the two uprights and the cross support, so it breaks down into
a pail of short tubes, two 5' straight runs, base and blower. Adding a second
bungee cord would allow the uprights to be strapped to the base for transport.

unless someone has some of those wide velcro straps that come in huge server
crates

With enough input, could make the best rig ever.
