Well, since nobody has made one yet, I guess I figured that I'd make one...

What kinds of video games, or video game programming are we hoping to see for '07?

To throw some ideas out on the table for discussion...

- Smash bros. & rules for this year's (pending) tournament
- Stepmania as an alternative / supplement to DDR
- Guitar Hero?
- Starfox assault - multiplayer (organized?)
- old-school games? Tetris anyone?
- Nintendo Wii?
- DS wifi organized multiplayer?

I don't plan on being in the video game room for too long, but if there's something fun, or time that needs to be killed, I'll probably end up in there somehow. Just a little curious about what any of you might think about these games of the video variety.

Well, (If I can manage to go) I'll definitely be bringing my Guitar Hero controller, as well as the game and possibly the system too...

Stepmania I haven't had any success with (As in programming the steps... well, except when I use DancingMonkey) , but I do have a USB-accessable Dance Pad, as well as 2 DDR titles and a copy of In The Groove...

For Old School, I have NES as well as a Sega Genesis.

*quickie-edit*
The majority of the above is reliant on how well I can pack a ton of stuff into a vehicle. No promises >_>

I have a pretty well stocked copy of stepmania already. Something like 700 or so songs from DDR, ITG, Foonmix combined. I'd rather not leave my own machine in the game room unattended by myself, but if someone has a computer with a video hookup that they'd be willing to use, and some usb dance pads, (or even ps2 pads with a ps2 to usb converter), I'd be happy to put my copy on a DVD for someone to operate.

If anyone's interested...

If you don't know about foonmix, then you should check it out... you may want to translate it though.
It comes in 3 parts, foonmix, foonmix plus, and foon2 - plus there are a bunch of secret songs that are a little bit hidden in there.

Hrrm...

If I get the time, I might be able to grab my old PC tower, clean it up a bit, and make it a barebones, not-really-stealable machine for use... this is still dependin g if I can get the money together, or if the parentals don't do something stupid...

I'll definitely be bringing my copies of Guitar Hero and GH2, as well as two or three controllers (just in case). Everyone seemed to like it last year.

The Wii and Super Smash Bros. will be going hand-in-hand this year, due to Brawl coming out in the Spring.

Personal opinion -- I've never met anyone whose collection of Stepmania songs would make a better alternative to good ol' DDR. I meet too many people who say "I've got 7000 songs!" and not enough who go "I've got two or three-hundred quality songs".

And Tetris? I'll be there. As well as Children of Mana, unless I get bored with it by the time AC rolls around, or if Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles comes out before then.

Also, Karaoke Revolution. I played it at my second Anthrocon, and had a lot of fun, as well as met some new peoples through it. But if it's to be had, it needs to be arranged so that DDR/ITG/PIU and Karaoke Revolution/Guitar Hero players won't argue over volume.

Well yeah, I agree. Lots of people I know also, have thousands upon thousands of songs that are all pretty lame together. I don't even play stepmania, or DDR much myself. I just end up setting it up for people all the time haha.

Basically, I've got all the DDR, and In-The-Groove songs sans bg videos (mostly) set up for stepmania. (Totally willing to put everything on a dvd for use at AC) I think they're all pretty good since they're either from the game or from foonmix which I'd say is quite well put together - with background videos even.

It really isn't up to me or anything. I just figured from an equipment stand-point it could be easier since people would have free range choice of songs without necessarily switching machines, or having a lot of machines to set up on few TVs.

If I could somehow figure how to pack it, the original nes tetris, smb3, punchout (and others?) might make an appearance.

I think it would be pretty interesting if there was a set time in the game room for starfox assault multiplayer. It wouldn't necessarily have to be in a tournament or anything, but just having a set time when people would be playing together would be cool. We played a little last year, and that was fun.

PSP anyone? No? aw. =/

DDR good. Wii... even better. Imagine fursuiters chucking (well sort of) the Wiimote around. youtube, here we come!

Hey is the N64 oldschool yet? GOLDENEYE XD (but alas, I no longer have it. I DO have an emulator/ROM, so potentially there could be some emulated 64 going on via usb controllers (XB360 ones work great!))

Anyone with a laptop and half life 2? hehe. might be asking too much here...

I don't have a PSP. My money is currently going towards two things: the hotel room and a new LCD screen for my laptop... the screen is $350.

N64, eh, it's kinda 'oldschool', though I find that Nintendo went down the tubes after SNES... we'll see about the Wii...

ugh, Nintendo Revolution was a much better name...

I personally can't wait for the Wii, and am a rather large fan of the DS and Gamecube, but most of my money now has been dumped into my laptop (MB-pro 17") and college. And it'll probably stay that way... (upgrades, and uhh college)

N64 can be fun though. Sure it's old-school, we're talking like 8 years ago already. Though I have to say, I didn't care much for the old smash after the new one came out. Some of the games that they tried to remake were just never as good as the N64 original - Mario Party, Starfox 64?

And the "Revolution" was a better name totally. It's control scheme is pretty revolutionary after-all, but whatever.

::wags tail:: Well, I just got a new laptop that has video output. I also transfered my Stepmania program and about 300-400 songs. i also have USB adaptor for a PS2 dance pad and/or controller. As for the GH and GH2, my mate and I have them and two controllers between us.

:;listens to her mate cry on how old he is finding out that N64 is 8 years old:: Star Fox 64 had to be like my favorite N64 game. I rock :3

I don't have HL2 but i have the first HL via steam with a few mods like brain bread, natural selection, the specialist, team Fortress classic... Provided there is a wireless connection.

Did someone say HL lan party? (especially Natural Selection)

Anyone?

If we wanted to do any lan partying, we could do it all through ad-hoc wireless networking. Either that or someone could bring a small router...

I'd need some games first, but that's besides the point Laughing out loud

Well I have two perfectly working yet unused routers (since we got a third to set up a wireless network) if ya can't get a wireless network going.

if you have gutiar hero there, my bf who is a non fur will attend and will play it all hours of the day (waiting in line of course). If you have gutiar hero tournament, he will be happy and say anthrocon was the best con ever!

Doesn't sound like the best reason for going to a furry con, but I'll definitely have a controller or two and both games in the game room for play. Maybe I'll even get a chance to use them.

Hmm... If anyone doesn't mind me doing alittle data copying from one xbox to another (through lots of things that have to do with having linux on an Xbox. YES! THE ULTIMATE OXYMORON!) I can put up a mod I have for HL2...

Basically what this mod does is lets me have Multiplayer on it... With the Gravity gun! Woot! L:P
