"only living once is a big downfall of being mortal"
do we have any masquerade video i can send to a friend? she had to leave beforehand and she loves fursuits. i couldn't find anything on youtube and i know you buggers had cameras.
I was sitting in row two and very dismayed to find that this skit's audio track had not been sound tested before the event.
Or has it? I say it hasn't because the voices recorded for two of the characters were insanely loud, somewhere on par with standing next to a jet engine at full power. Whenever they'd speak it was like an audio bomb would go off, with waves of people ducking their heads and covering their ears.
And I wasn't even sitting directly in front of the speakers. Far from it. This wasn't a problem with the other skits before or after.
[This is directed to the masquerade staff and A/V crew if applicable]
Please, in the future, check the volume levels on pre-recorded audio sections of the skits.
This was run through at rehearsal, so we did hear it beforehand. I don't know if A/V did anything to improve it, they'll have to chime in for that answer. But in the end, we have to work with what we're given by the participants.
I guess I am slightly confused by the comments I have received on the audio for the underdog skit. I did all the mixing myself and it sounded fine on my home system. Even at the rehearsal run through it seemed to sound good.
I had the skit recorded during the performance, and watched the play back and detected no audio problems there. I am not sure what happened, but I am slightly disappointed that it seemed to be not clear. I was also told that the Foxes know your limits skit was hard to understand.
Maybe the audio guys can shed some light on this, so we can get it nailed down. That skit took me weeks to compile, it would be sad if it was all for nothing.
I watched the skit on Youtube. It was cool, although I noticed some of the same audio problems. Certain voices at certain points spiked on volume and pitch, compared to other voices and sound effects which remained at a fairly constant volume rating. And for what it's worth, I'm fairly sure I saw someone on Youtube comment offhandedly that it was loud when they saw it at the con.
Despite that, it was quite fun to watch on Youtube. Don't even think for a moment it was for nothing.
