next years costume security questions

Baker Bunny's picture

Hi Hi all

I know it's awfully soon since the last ac but I wanted to ask about asomething I'm planning for Next years suit.

I'm planning something in line with the theme. It's a cyborg space pirate style suit. I'm planning to make one obviously mechanical arm ending in a large working pincer claw. I've already got the plans for this one in my head.

What I was wondering about would be weather or not to build interchangable hands. With the weapons policy I thought it might be best if I asked first since the secondays hands were going to be weapon hands.

I know I probably wouldn't be able to get away with a gun hand (and I've got a intersting gatling design for that.) but I was wondering if it might be allowable to have a buzz saw style hand (lightweight with the disc's possible foam or plastic with felt teeth) or a Drill hand (it would be a foam base)

Hasn't there been a Master Chief with a gun at cons before?

Exkhaniber's picture

At FC yes. At AC, Master Chief was unarmed as per the standards of conduct which prohibit anything that could be considered a weapon, be used as a weapon, or mistakingly seen as a weapon.

Which means that nobody is allowed to approach me with sneezing powder.

well I did see a couple of felines wandering around ac this year with what looked like rather nasty axes

It's possible, although I didn't see them myself. AC and the Dorsai set down the rules, but to enforce them an official has to be able to spot and stop the individual.

Ah, well, I've never actually been to any of the cons. I just have the YouTube videos to go by.

Actually, it was a fantastic suit, but it had been fitted with cat ears.

It was "Halo Kitty"

Ouch!

Actually, you shouldn't say such things in public. Sanrio (Hello Kitty's parent company) has done odd things with her before, such as the HK "shoulder massager" and the HK toilet paper... and those were legal, licensed products!

(Actually, I had an odder idea for an anime costume. A guy walks on stage wearing a long brown robe and a light saber with a cabbit head. The costume title is not mentioned until he is leaving the stage: Obi-Wan Ken-oki. This is an obscure pun that only Tenchi Muyo fans would get... and there'd be enough of them at an anime con to get a massive groan.)

I don't remember where I saw it, maybe a fan art site, but I still like "Judge Hello Kitty": "Move along, citizen" Smiling

1) Comments were too easy.

2) I was over my daily posting limit.

I couldn't decide whether to go with "Doggun it" or "Why is he looking down the wrong end?" Smiling
