security question for next year
|
|
I know it's awfully soon to ask questions like this but I'm in the planning stage for next years costume. In keeping with the theme of OMG aliens I felt it might be time to proceed with my long planed cyborg space pirate. I'm planning to build my basic hand and that should be easy enough but I had an Idea to make the borg hand some one modular. I'd basically have a few extra paws I could swap out for the gripping claw that was going to be standard. So I was thinking of what I could make. I know I probably wouldn't get away with some sort of built in gun (which was my first design idea) but I was wondering if it might be okay for me to make say a Buzzsaw hand (I have a basic Idea which would use a plastic disc with felt teeth) or maybe a Drill bit hand. It's probably a silly question and I'm not going to even start designing any of the secondary hands till I get the okay. But I'm still planning to build the standared grip pincer. |

Um, didn't you ask this same question four days ago?
I would suggest that it is indeed a bit early to be asking questions like this. Seriously, it's only been two weeks since the convention and people who worked dozens of hours over a short weekend are still recovering. You may want to consider bringing up the topic again after Labor Day.

permalinkyes but the fursuit section is a much slower moving part of the forums I thought to be safe I'd hedge my bets and place a posting here as well.
sorry to have been a bother. I was just excited and wanted to get a jump on construction

Please don't get me wrong - I'm not upset or anything, I just wanted you to understand why it may be a while before you get an answer, and when you might get the answer you seek
I suppose others may use the message boards here differently, but I usually check Recent Messages, which shows all messages regardless of what forum they're posted to. I didn't realize you had posted to two different sections.

permalinkWell, since this thread has tanked, I may as well hijack it to say:
Thank you, Baker Bunny, for the delicious cookie! :-9 We ran into each other just before the Masquerade, and you handed me one of your home-made bunny yummies. I don't know what the flavor was---it was kind of a chocolaty color, with a hot-pink frosting on top---but it was oh so good!
(I didn't eat it at the Masquerade, as I'd just had dinner at Sushi Kim's, but I nibbled away on it all throughout 2's rant later that evening

deffenitly going to try and make them for next year
I think I'll leave off the orange ones but Grape could be fun, and I'm not sure I'll be able to make sour apple again

permalinkWhat I found cool was how when I rolled into the parking lot, I parked right beside your car.
Unless you were also responsible for the other cookies and fudge that was part of the Zoo during the evening?
What I DIDN'T find was you to try some of your cookies.

permalinkwell I didn't get to bring any fudge but on sunday I was sitting in the zoo. I had way to many cookies left over so I made a free cookies sign. If you got some then that may have been me
I even found out I can do a pretty good cookie monster impression
I got up and did some C is for cookie. and some of the arguments cookie monster made on the colbert report

permalinkYou know, I keep hearing that snacks are brought into the zoo one night during the con, and I'm NEVER there to see it or partake in the delights. I've missed it every year thus far.

permalinkWell, as long as there aren't sharp edges, and everything is part of the costume, there shouldn't be a problem.
If you sketch things up while designing it, email a scan to and we'll have a look, but from the hip, it doesn't sound like a problem.
