Okay folks, I have a question for you all. I've been getting into hemp jewelry, and have been getting fairly good at it (I think). What I need from you all is to look at the pictures (links below) and let me know what you'd pay for them. Some are similar, but just let me know what you think they're worth. All designs, with a little tinkering, are customizable in closure and bead/accessory design, and some are even able to be made with larger test hemp. I have varying sizes/colors of beads, including glass, bone, metal, and wood, even a few sparkly clear plastic ones. Currently I only have 1mm (20 pound test) and 2mm (45 pound test) hemp, but I bet with some digging I could get larger sizes, though finding beads to fit them would be a challenge. You can either message back here, PM me, or send an IM/email to Thanks for your help! I might be putting these up for sale, so every little bit of assistance I get on market value helps Blue/White Lace Choker |

Now that's a thought: Custom pieces for fursuits. I'm sure there's more than a few fursuiters that would be interested. (It can be hard to find accessories for that will fit the larger size requirements of many costumes.)

I actually did think about that--the only challenge would be finding beads with holes gauged large enough for the higher-poundage hemp twines (like the 45 and 170 pound test guages)
That would probably be a bit more due to the large amount of material needed, but I think it'd be fun to try out

I think that would look great on the more... ?natural? fursuits.

Well most of mine are pretty secure--one of my earlier ones I have to tigheten manually after putting it on, but the rest I've had no trouble with. The blue and white one stays on quite well with just a loop and a knot.
Other than that, I have created works with beads you work through a (tight) loop, which might be what you're looking for. I've also made loose-thread ends that you can tie off, and even braided endings that are easier to tie and untie.
With a bit of experimenting, I might be able to produce some with a metal clasp system, but I haven't attempted that just yet.

Oh look its you! *waves* I met you when you was working with some hemp and told you I wanted something for my pouch lol .. Although I'll take a page of my friends book so to speak and list prices they go with (sadly I really no longer talk to them, so I can go hay pictures please .-.) But they sold their stuff based on what was used to make it most of the time so things costed in the range of 5-30+ dollars.
Oh and for larger beads and stuff? Check around craft places, online, hobbyshops (my hobbyshop used to carry large glass beads, but not anymore) just to point a few places for you.

Well unless I get a really complicated, heavily beaded fursuit piece request, I don't think anything of mine will cost 30 bucks XD
Most of my current stuff will cost around 5-10 bucks, depending on complexity and beads involved (Glass beads are expensive, even though they look SO cool)...

Yea...depends on who you buy them from and what not...
I made a small backstock, so I'm thinking 5 bucks base price for a simple one with no beads...

:nods: Fair enough. Because i have been warned so many times that i couldn't price my own work properly to save my life, though, and because us artists gotta watch out for each other, i'll tell you what others keep telling me:
Don't forget to factor labor as well as parts into your pricing. You need to allow for the time it takes to create your work, not just what you spend on it, and be careful not to undervalue yourself. I would be careful of charging anything less than $10 for something that takes you an hour to construct, and that's from someone who chronically underprices herself.

Thanks for the tip
I have sold a few already for 5 dollars, but they were to people close to me that insisted on paying me anyway XD I would have just given them as a gift but they forced me to take the money
I think I'll start around 8 or 9 for a simpler one...since they don't take nearly as much time, and work from there...besides, the supplies are cheap (mostly), so I can afford to take a small hit from time to time...
