AC 2009 Guest of Honor suggestions.

Who would you like to see as a GoH for future conventions?

My top personal choice would definitely be Don Bluth. He's a great animator and producer who has created many furry-favorite movies, like The Secret of NIMH, All Dogs go to Heaven, An American Tail, and others. Though I wouldn't be surprised if he was considered at one point before. :3

I did not attend this year, but I would be extremely surprised if the registration packet did not include a pre-reg form for 2009 with the Guest(s) of Honor listed. Kage is usually more than a year ahead with GOH selection to ensure their availability.

And, to quote from the Attendee FAQ:

# How does Anthrocon choose its Guest of Honor each year?

The process by which we select a Guest of Honor is similar to a papal conclave and just as mysterious. Many factors are considered -- everything from their availability to budgetary concerns. There are literally dozens of people that we would like to consider in any given year, however we can only choose two or three. We hope that no one views it as a slight if we do not select a particular person. It is almost always a matter of "not quite right for this year".

We still welcome suggestions, although we prefer those to be emailed to us, rather than discussed on public forums, since the latter often leads to misunderstandings.

The reason we CANNOT DISCUSS THIS ONLINE IN A PUBLIC FORUM is because internet searches can turn up names, and in the past, there's been misunderstandings. Folks have seen their name mentioned with "guest of honor" and assumptions can be made accordingly.

As he said *points up and slightly to the left* DO NOT DISCUSS GUEST SUGGESTIONS HERE.

That's one great thing: you can't be wrong if you quote the FAQ's. Quoting them might result in a change to the FAQ, but it won't get you yelled at.

The 09 form didn't mention a GoH, but it was announced at closing ceremonies that they had signed up Joe Harris, creator of the Trix Rabbit, among others (hopefully nobody'll bother him with the "kicks are for Trids" variant - he's probably heard it a million times Sad)

Note that this isn't discussing a suggested GoH, thus is hopefully OK Smiling
