ACK! Monochrome! This is SOOO not friendly...

Seriously - I am not sure what mood you are trying to invoke, but the feeling this inspires is distress, and a frantic sort of distress, at that. I don't mean the "theme logo", just the whole rest of the site. If the ONLY color is in smileys and peoples' chosen avatar/icons, it makes me think something is seriously wrong with my monitor. It would be different if this were moving images, like a film noir movie, but even the B-picture black and whites where brighter than this. They weren't as stark. |

A couple of other folks have made similar comments to me. I think we'll be taking another look at our site redesign.

How about blue lettering? Reminiscent of the "Star Wars" credits.
I happened to be online during the changeover... at first I did think my monitor was acting up, when everything turned monochrome after I refreshed the page!

Actually, now that I think of it, for those folks with an eye for design, Adobe has an excellent site with many color schemes on it:

[chuckles] I might have thought so as well, but i only got part of the new design at first; i usually have to do a purge of the browser's records to switch over completely.
I'm kind of getting into the new hues, actually--it's grey, but it's got enough blue in it to be a really attractive grey. And these days, it's not often that a website designer is bold enough to eschew bright color. It mightn't hurt to try switching some or all of the lettering to something complimentary, as has been suggested--perhaps a deep blue-y purple, like the night sky?--but i'd love it if we kept most of the grey, and made any color change just bright enough to make sure ppl know their monitors haven't gone quirky without detracting from the quality of the grey.
Hrmmm...now i'm tempted to mess with this, just to see what happens. Guess it's a good thing my copy of photoshop is at home.
Also, just as a side note--yesterday the layout was working well, but just this morning i notice that on the pages for conversational threads themselves (not reply composition, not menus of threads or the main forum menu), much of the formatting is down. The sidebar menu has been replaced with a text-only version of itself, the top splash bannery thing is ok but some of the links are on top of it in text-only, and the framing around the individual messages (as well as the little red 'new' tags) are gone. Could just be something weird with my comp this morning, tho, since everything was fine last night.

Oh, I forgot to mention that Drupal does support multiple themes. If you can offer suggestions for a color scheme that you'd like to see (no more than 5 colors, please), I can implement it and make it optional for visitors to the site.

permalinkNah. Have everything black. The banner, the menu tabs, the side menu, text, backround, text boxes, everything!
Then we'll just wait and see how many people are smart enough to CTRL-A hilight the entire page.
-Okay, we're up to one (1) so far...

I assume he (they?) were going for the gray-skinned alien effect; too bad green was used for AC08, as "little green men" also works as an aliens theme color (along that line, an old Eek the Cat episode: "green space babes!" Also: http://www.rhjunior.com/QQSR/00001.html)
