Where's the color! Wait, is this the theme for 09? It is isn't it?... Well, this is rather interesting. Never seen a webpage in complete, or close to, greyscale. it's messing with my head a bit. So is it suppose to be like old b&w sci-fi movie ish or like newspaper? I kinda like it but the message options and user icons kidna throw it off a bit. I think it'd be great if everyone got into this by making their icons greyscale and all buttons were changed as to teh theme. |

This is temporary, there's plans for a better design down the road

It's monochrome monitor compatible.
Seriously, you're not the first person to have raised the issue of the new website colors, so a new design is in the works.

Some blue accents would dress it up a bit and still keep the same basic theme/"feel", though everyone uses blue. Bright green highlights, used sparingly along with the current greyscale pallete, should also go well with an Aliens theme

Really? What's wrong with this design? I kinda like it...
My own messageboard has a monochrome scheme to it. You can really create some cool effects.
For us geeks, less colour = smaller file size.

I'm kinda turned off by the grey myself. Its depressing and dull. I feel like I'm back at grandmas house where she doesn't any gizmos beyond the 60s. And these colors reminds me of a certain old video game...

well the colors don't but me whatsoever. I kinda dig it. Any second now I'm expecting to see the pot lid flying saucers on strings fly by. Thank you Plan 9... that horrible movie...

Yes - quite spiffy! Synnabar does know her art, and did you proud(ly).
You know, going out on the tip of the spear like that, you just might start a trend. Who knows but what other intrepid souls might choose to follow?

...BTW, Natasha surprised me by mailing this badge to me about two years ago, both the original art and a couple variations of name display. Roz Gibson turned it into an icon for me (with a bit of de-rezzing to discourage copies), and Darrel Exline added the copyright note for me. But - I'm not exactly sure when I started USING it as an icon here, I think you actually beat me.

When I first saw the new greyscale design of the site it seemed a bit unusual and even a little dull, but after seeing it a few times I have got used to it and think that it fits the 'OMG Aliens!' theme really well. Though it could use a little something to make the new look of the site a bit more appealing, all in all though it's not too bad.
