Handwashing- fear the glowing bacteria!

Handwashing and the prevalence of con-crud came up in another thread which reminded me of this. One of the standard tricks for teaching people in the health and food service fields about how to wash hands properly is the old glowing germ powder bit. It adheres to bacteria on your hands and will glow brightly under a blacklight. So you have a volunteer apply, then blacklight their hands. Watch the disease GLOW. Let them go wash and see if they missed spots. A bottle of the powder and a black light can be grabbed in a kit for about $20. (or if there's furs that work in health care, they may be able to borrow the light and powder for demonstration) Adding that to the "your First Furry Con" panel might be nice and help cut down on some of the con crud. For those having trouble picturing this, here's a video on youtube for teachers that want to do it in the classroom: It's a quick simple little minute long bit that might help improve overall quality of con for a lot of people but cutting down on the germs. |

We certainly would not mind a donation of a bottle of such and a blacklight, if you wished to give it to Anthrocon; While we can;t be responsible for everyone's hygeine we do like to avoid Con Crud.
You'll see Registration likes to have bottles of instant hand sanitizer, to help prevent germ spread.

Yeah, there is not a whole lot out there germier than money. Yech. There's a reason in food service if you handle cash you're supposed to wash your hands before touching food.
Icky, icky, germ magnets...
