Marriott continues to consume all the hotels in the Pittsburg area.... in purchashing Starwoods group the Westin has fallen under the empires grip along, lured in by the quiet rooms of the nearby courtyard , or the opulance of the Renisance. to finally tip the balance over the other Properties....I for one will welcome our new Marriott overlords and tell them where to find the holdout Wyndham and Hilton(Doubletree, Hampton) hotels that are hanging on bravely in a hopeless aliance..

This humorous take on Hotel company merger was brought to you because my excitement for AC is bubbling early this year

Four months later, there is still an intense battle going on between Marriott and Anbang to buy Starwood as described here. I hope Marriott does succeed in the acquisition, because the Starwood rewards program is terrible. They're stingy with giving out points for stays and you need a ton of points to redeem at the hotels you would actually want to stay at. Plus, you can't book any rewards member discounts without paying in advance.
