We just began in 2008 with custom keycards. So we can't say we've done a different style yet. But if we do it next year, we'll obviously want a different image.

I don't think its really a proper gesture of appreciation unless they replace our key cards with live monkeys who unlock the doors for us.
Yes. This is the only way they will please us.
(I love the AC specific key cards and I HOPE they do it again next year. Still have mine in my wallet)
I have all three of the keys I somehow ended up with.
I also have room keys from MFF2000 through 2007, AC 2003 through 2008, Furry Connection North, and a variety of other places. I -never- return a room key.

Unless your intent is to tease him, I stayed at the Omni, and I got two keys with the AnthroCon - It's a Jungle Out There key design. I think Kage said that they were Jaime's idea, and there were only 2,000 of them made, and distributed to our associated hotels.
The staff at the Omni thought they were really cool; I hope that there were enough of them distributed there, so that there were a few spares for the staff to keep as souveniers.
Speaking of which - we have to deal with IBEW electricians and I think Teamsters. The Teamsters whom I have encountered were curious about our activities; and in 2007, while transporting artwork for the adult auction up to the we used and back, the Foreman of the group expressed interest in all the art (he has a daughter who is into Graphic Arts in General, and Fantasy Art in particular), and PeterCat gave him a quick accompanied tour of the show.
Seeing as we work with these people, and it behooves us to have their goodwill (and assuming that we aren't already being compelled to pay for "goodwill"), what would anyone think of special T-shirts for the DLCC union staff who work our convention? I know that Electricians tend to cherish such knick-knacks, if they can reference both the IBEW Logo and the event, and the Furry Artist Jay Shell has done beautiful line art of one of his characters, a Draft Horse who works for a brewery (I think the character's name is Sheffield)- now THAT, or some variation depicting two anthro drafthorses, standing back-to-back with crossed forearms on the back of a T-shirt would make any teamster melt, and the envy of his co-workers, I bet!
(and assuming that we aren't already being compelled to pay for "goodwill")
Union labor is one of our line-item expenses each year; they are compensated very well for their goodwill, and given great deals of respect by the staff, dealers, and others for their professionalism.
Given the costs of shirt manufacture, art procurement, and other expenses involved in doing something of this sort.. I think if we wanted to make an additional gesture of kindness to these folks, we'd be using that year's convention shirt, which we already make in vast enough quantity to get good economies of scale.

Would folks like if we did it again?

[sagenods] Yeah, it seems clear that everyone hated the gesture. Just hated it.
That's why they're all hanging on to their key cards--so they can keep the misery fresh in their minds.

Between my friends and I, we possess over a dozen hotel room key cards.
I think that it was an awesome idea to make a little collectible like this.

It was so cool that they were specially-themed for the con; I hope the trend continues!
