So apparently I am now getting sub updates just by starting a thread?

Example:

Interesting. As you may have figured out, I upgraded Drupal over the weekend, and also upgraded the subscriptions module.

It looks like there was a default setting to email the users when they post content, and it comes checked by default. (Silly, I know)

I just turned that setting off, though you may want to check your subscriptions page as well.
