Where is the cheapest place to purchase fursuits?
Hello, I have recently wondered into this fandom and I keep growing increasingly interested. I was reading on this website about the 2016 anthrocon and I am super excited about it and want to attend; in a partial fursuit, that is. Since I am only fifteen and the lack of a job, it is difficult to acquire these suits. I am only looking for the head, feet, and hands (possibly a tail too). I have checked Furbuy and the ones I see there is quite expensive. Is there a cheaper place to purchase these? If you have any information that could help me in acquiring these things, that would be much appreciated. Thanks c:
Fursuits are not cheap. The cheapest way to get a fursuit is to learn to make one yourself. Plus, being 15, the parts are not even going to fit you in a short time so normally it is not recommended to get a suit until you are done growing. There are plenty of tutorials online that help you to buy materials and make a beginner suit for probabaly around $100.
As far as BUYING a cheap suit, furbuy is the place, although you normally get what you pay for. A $200 partial will probably fall apart in short time. Most of the time you are looking at at least $800-$1000 for a well made partial in most cases.
Just FYI: You don't have to have a fursuit to attend. Nearly 80% of attendees do not wear a costume of any kind.
Buy a cheap suit, and it will be cheap. With fursuits, you get exactly what you pay for. Start saving now and establish a budget for yourself, by the time you finish growing at 18 you might even have enough saved up to buy one.
Fursuits are NOT cheap and if you do intend to get one that is cheap, be aware that it may end up falling apart on you. You can try making one on your own which will lower the costs somewhat but at the very least you're looking at spending upwards of $1,300 on one.
When it comes to fursuits, the old adage of "You get what you pay for" is applicable.
By no means is a fursuit a required thing, and you get exactly what you pay for. -- , Many even advise the first year of a furcon be [especially such a large one] no suit, for safetys sake and seeing what it all IS and how it IS .. without fursuit tunnel vision!
Though some small time fursuit makers exist who might even just charge for supplies [substantially cheaper than labor] this is often done to practice. It's basically a gamble. "You know I'm new to this, all you gotta do is buy the stuff and *assume/hope* I will build better than you could spending the same amount for supplies"
Besides the point, you're young! You should assume you will grow out of it and wait until the end of growth. Even 18 is a safer point,[assuming] that is the generally accepted end growth!
