The Westin reports that the double rooms in the hotel are all spoken for on Friday and Saturday nights. There are still plenty of king rooms left, though.

Bloody box of nougat speckled dog ears!

Advice for next year: Get an extremely accurate way of calculating the number of rooms remaining. >_<

Question: If you reserve a king room now, can they transfer you to a double if one becomes available between now and then?
Also, if the roommates don't mind bringing sleeping bags would there be problems with 4 people staying in a king room?

edit:
Oh, and do we have a block of rooms held for the Courtyard by Marriott? the link's not on the hotels page and there's no pricing for it. That's where my group planned to go if the Westin ran out.

I think the good doctor is conveying that only one type of the room block been reserved. When the real number of the whole block the anthrocon org ordered goes down that are still left can be reserved that is when, He will give out the warning appropraitly. scritches

I'm pretty sure some room will be freed-up as AC draws even closer. Surely a few of the folk who reserved the rooms too early will go "Oh crap, I can't go. Now I wasted $150 on that room! ;_;" or something to that extent. Just play the waiting game and see what happens in a month or 2.

I's entirely possible there will be some cancellations, but it would be best not to make plans upon that. The purpose of the deposit system this year was to minimize cancellations in requiring that deposit.

The scary part is, it's only November. Anthrocon is seven months away. Think of how fast the hotel would be filling WITHOUT that deposit, and you'll understand why it's become a requirement. Smiling

No wonder there's no info on the courtyard Marriott. I called and it's entirely sold out. looks like it's either gonna be a king room, the doubletree, or bust. @_@
