As of December 22, we are about 90% full at the Westin. There are still lots of rooms at the Doubletree.

If you should try to reserve at the Westin and find that it is full, please wait until after January 4 before making alternative arrangements. We may be able to add some more rooms at the Westin, but everyone who can make that decision for us is out on a well-deserved Christmas holiday, so we'll have to wait until after the New Year to see if we can fit a few more rooms in.

If more rooms are added on Jan. 4th, can people who got king rooms due to the running out of doubles switch to one if they become available?

I DO so hope that this announcement doesn't result in a flurry of panic reservations being made; While resigned to probably being at the DoubleTree, and being compelled to accept a thick, fresh chocolate-chip cookie at registration time, I will not make a reservation until I can be sure of getting vacation at that time - and like many folks, I cannot submit my vacation requests for the year, until the new year actually starts - and then must wait a week or two for conflicts to be detected, resolved, and approval (hopefully) granted.

This waiting to make a reservation - and the risk of "missing out" - is due entirely to the policy of so-called "non-refundable deposit" for the first night's charges being assessed _immediately_ by the hotels serving AnthroCon.

Is there anyone who you might feel comfortable sharing a room with who could reserve a room now?

Then it's working just how we planned it, we must say. Even with the immediate deposit, we are likely, the same as last year, to have filled the Westin at some point in January. I shudder to think how rapidly it would have filled without the deposit.

We do understand and sympathise, but we still have lots of Doubletree rooms available; amd those people who are able to secure plans earlier are as equally deserving of rooms.

Believe me, vacation requests and work is a difficulty I've been through for every Anthrocon I've attended, even with my promptest of vacation filing. Some people know what happened for AC 2008 with me, on that note.

...Unfortunately, I'm forced to wait until I get my tax refund before I can think of reserving a room. :/

Course, now that I think about it.. The walk from the Westin to the Doubletree may take the same amount of time as waiting for the elevators. Laughing out loud

Perhaps - I have stood in those lines, and I have walked to the Omni William Penn (in the rain) - but at the DoubleTree, They give you a Thick, Fresh, Chocolate-Chip Cookie when you check in!

While standing in line at the Westin, waiting for an elevator - does someone (other than Baker Bunny or Chiaro, perhaps) offer you a TFC-3?

I Think Not!

...

(would that be noted as a TF(3C)?)

Hello!
Im pretty new here and its my first time to Anthrocon. We will be 2 maybe 3 fursuiters and we want a room at the Westin... but on the website, they talk about a Waitlist???
Does it have a waiting list??? or after January 4th, first to come, first to be served??
I also saw that when you select a type of room, 2 beds is now available... and he was not yesterday....
Thanks for your comprehension.

Everyone is away for the holiday. We won't be able to figure anything out until after January 5 when folks are back in the office.

The 4th is a Sunday.

The 5th is a Monday, which is the first business day after the holiday.

Speaking about that, if you actually some how manage to be able to switch from one room type to another (In this case King to 2 double) do you still get hit with a cancellation fee even thoug your still keeping a room of the same price? (Their both 115).

Reason I asked is I snagged a King since a friend of mine and I were going, he's got a suit, and mine should be ready by then. But I've since had two other folk wanting to hop in and the room limit on a single bed isnt good enough for 4 though a 2 double bed would cover it fine for the same base price.

I was -hoping- to be able to switch it over or otherwise make some arrangement to just pay the Westin for cots or the extra folk or what ever.

Of course if it cant be done, it cnat be done. I'm just trying to help a few friends out and cut down on my own costs at the same time Sticking out tongue

You should not be charged a cancellation feel for making the King Bed to two doubles switch at the Westin, or within the doubleTree. Obviously you won't be able to switch one hotel's room for the other. I will note, the odds of being able to get a double at this point at the Westin are extremely low, as they are all booked with deposits.

Cots at the Westin are excellent, very comfortable, first-come first-serve and usually gone by the end of Wednesday, as they are very widely used indeed.

Allright. Thanks.

And yeah I'm not planning on switching to the tree. Just wanted to know since the double rooms were poppping up again at the Westin all of a sudden for some reason or other.
