[Open Call] Video Game Tournament Hosts for 2016
It's that time of year again! We have some of the old classics and some new offerings so far, but there's still plenty of space in the schedule for some more fun in the video Game Room. If you'd like to run a tournament in the video game room, drop me a line and we'll get the ball rolling. The deadline for submissions this year is 4/21, so the earlier I hear from you the better! So far, and in no particular order we have: Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros Melee, Mario Maker, Smash Bros WiiU, Stepmania and Pokemon X/Y. We'll also be featuring Rock Band 4 in the music corner and a choice of various DDR and Stepmania games in the pads corner. Keep your eyes peeled for Jousting, too!
We also always need you awesomely generous furs to bring some of your gear to help us have more diversity in the Video Game Room. Smaller CRTs or other screens with VGA inputs and any kind of party/fighter style games that you think people would like to play together are always welcome. Setup and drop off hours will liekly be our usual Thursday 4p-7p and Friday from 10a-12p or any time we're open.
As always, open gaming runs from Noon-1a Friday, 10a-1a Saturday and 10a-4p Sunday. See you all there!
Even if you only have ideas for one you would like to see run, dont be afraid to mention it! Maybe someone that may have interest in running it but is worried noone is interested will take the idea as a push to do it! :3
Thanks for the offer but I guess I wasn't too clear in the post. That list is what we already have hosts for, but we always need more tournaments! Is there anything else you'd like to run? Or something to do with Smash4 besides the standard tournament style? We had a rather well attended Amiibo only tournament last year, or an Amiibo+trainer event?
I would love to host a Naruto tournament like last year.... but no one showed up
I'd like to extend the same offer I made last year - especially now that with the results from Pound 2016 and recent balance changes, it might have more of a chance of being acted on.
I would like to offer a Supersponsorship pot bonus for Smash 4, conditinal on the person winning the whole tournament playing only as Mewtwo for the entire tournament.
Also, Wake - if you happen to run a non-standard Smash 4 tournament (e.g. the stuff that's usually turned off in comeptitive Smash is on - items, non-neutral stages, etc.), regardless of what characters are used I will fund some kind of bonus for that as well.
I'm not sure how much you guys still need people to bring in video game gear for the game room and stuff, but I'll be attending AnthroCon instead of NY ComicCon this year (lack of interest), and I've got an entire Rock Band 4 setup with 180+ DLC music to choose from, all running on a PS4. Would that be something people would be interested in playing? Is it worth bringing along?
Hi Xir! Your RB setup sounds a lot like Milt's RB setup! I believe he's got everything that's been released so far and will be trucking the whole shebang up as usual, but thanks for your offer! Is there anything else you'd like to bring? Or maybe you'd like to set up a RB tournament of some kind?
I've got Injustice, the fighting game. I'm no good at it, but I could certainly bring it. I've got Pokken Tournament for my WiiU, as well, if anyone's interested.
Having a tournament for either (or both!) of those would be awesome! We'll be picking up a copy of Pokken also before the con. I can PM you the details I need to set you up with a timeslot if you'd like to run either (or both!). ^_^
Oh sure ^_^.
Let me knwo whenever you need me to run the stuff and the stuff shall be ran! I can totes bring both Pokken and Injustice. I'm schlepping along my grandparent's minivan, I'll have the room, lol.
Just a reminder - Tournament and panel submissions close at 9pm on the 21st! That's just 3 days away!
