Anthrocon's 2016 Fursuit Parade!
Due to popular demand from the good people of Pittsburgh, we are once again going to bring a portion of our Fursuit Parade outdoors so that the local folks can share in the spectacle. We have made some improvements over last year, including seating along 10th St. to allow more people to view the parade, and an invitation to Colonel Eagleburger's High Steppin Good Time Band to add a bit of jazz to the march.
The parade will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 2. The public portion will consist of a circuit along 10th St. beneath the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, starting at the East Lobby and concluding at the West Lobby, and should last roughly 30 minutes, enough time to see what is anticipated to be well over 1500 examples of wearable arwork that we call "fursuits." The grand structure will provide shelter from both sun and rain, so we expect to be out there regardless of weather -- though let's keep our fingers crossed as we say that.
There is no charge to attend. This is something that Anthrocon has created as our thanks to the city that has welcomed us so kindly for the past ten years. Of course, if anyone would like to step inside and see more of what Anthrocon has to offer, we will have one-day memberships available on the second floor of the Convention Center, in Concourse B.
Here is a flyer that will be in every attendee's registration packet. It contains everything you need to know about (a) obtaining an Anthrocon-exclusive fursuit badges, (b) guidelines and restrictions for the Fursuit Group Photo which will be shot at precisely 2:00 PM on July 2, just at the start of the parade, and (c) what you need to know about participation in the parade itself. Remember, the route is rather long (a total of 0.6 miles, we estimate). You may wish to partake in the outside portion only, the indoor portion only, or in both portions. If you want to go the distance, however, please be sure to look after your health, especially in the heat of a fine Pennsylvania summer.

Curious, How do people from Pittsburgh know about the parade, are there posters? News Article? How do they know the date of Anthrocon changed since last year.
I've actually wondered this myself. I live in Pittsburgh, and I obviously know about AC and the parade because, well, I'm IN the parade. But I don't recall ever seeing notices about it before hand.
Granted, I don't read physical newspapers, I don't listen to ads on the radio, and I don't watch the news on TV. I get all of my news and current events through Google News and sometimes Yahoo.
Anthrocon enjoys a wonderous amount of positive news coverage each year from the local news stations. As well as other sources around the pittsburgh area which will likely let people know when and where the parade will be so they can come aee us.
Can anyone wear a fursuit, or do you have to get permission?
No permission is required to wear a fursuit.
As mentioned, you may wear a fursuit of your choosing, provided it meets Anthrocon's Standards of Conduct. To be a part of the Parade and photo, you of course need to purchase a Membership for that year as well.
