I'm highly disappointed! I was going to order a "Yiff Me Berry Hard" in celebration of my 21st birthday, but I suppose circumstances have clearly made that impossible!

That being said, can any other place be recommended for my first drink out? Celebrating my 21st during AC '17 has been my goal for quite some time.

Thanks!

Keep an eye out for the Annual Wine Tasting announcement! I hope it happens this year.

Or, if you like beer, for the past few years some of us have organized a small informal "Brewfurs" meet and greet at Sharp Edge on Penn Ave.  (Usually sometime around four or five on Friday.)

As Glelin said:  Keep your eye on these forums.  We try to get the word out as best we can.

Note that neither Brewfurs or the Annual Wine Tasting are official Anthrocon events.  But, as Anthrocon attendees, and therefor representitives of the furry fandom at large, both events are run to the same high standards that they would be run with if they were official events.  IE:  If you intend to get sloshed at either event, forget about it!  We will stop you and tell you to leave!  (Fortunately I don't believe that has ever been a problem at either event.  I just wanted to clarify for any who may be reading this.)

Thank you, everyfur who attended Highwing's, Skarlath's, and my Zootopia panel!
Will we do it yet again, next year?
As I said last year: "Only time will tell..."

Thank you both for the suggestions! I don't know if I like beer or not (same with the wine--yes, yes, laugh!) but if those two events take place then what better way to find out? I had such a blast when I was 19 at AC '15 and I'm excited for this year knowing that I'll have the option to explore even further!

While getting hammered is not my idea of a good time, nor do I drink often (Fourth of July and New Years were my only drinks last year!), I've been holding onto the idea of buying my first "going out" drink in Pittsburgh during AC for quite some time now. Thank you again for sharing a couple of events you know take place/have gone on. I hope I can take part!

Here's to a great 2017!  Star

If you're looking for a local bar that's good and close to the convention center, There Ultra Lounge is usually a good place to go. It's on Liberty and used to have a furry bartender (so we know it's furry friendly). It's been relatively popular with the local furs, as far as downtown bars go. You can also get a drink at August Henry's, Ten Penny, and several other restaurants along both Penn and Liberty.

If you're lookking for mixed drinks more than wine or beer, Tenpenny has some really great drinks (and food - it's not cheap, but it's worth it!), and right across from the Westin too.  The menu on their website doesn't list too many, but they had far more on the in-restaurant menus than that last year.

If you like tequila or margaritas, Bakersfield isn't far from the con and is absolutely top notch for that, and tacos too!

I very much suggest Cruze Bar. It's down the street a few blocks but it's an LGBT+ run bar and is very friendly and accepting of everyone. Additionally, it's spacious so there's no need to worry about feeling too confined if you want to go in your fur suit.

Condado tacos has a great bar right across the street. Would recommend. It's in the place Tonic was.
