We now have a default user icon, for those of you who haven't uploaded icons:

As for people who don't have icons but would like to have icons, I found a few resources that offer free icons:

http://www.iconorama.co.uk/
http://siren.org/signals/icons/

Those are all LiveJournal icons, but the icons on this site are the same size (100x100 pixels) so they can be used here.

Frankly, I think it would look better to have no graphic at all, if someone chooses not to have an icon.
