March Programming Update
Hey everyone!
Anthrocon 2009 is less than 4 months away! Can you believe how quickly time is flying by? We hope that you are planning to join us for what is shaping up to be a truly phenomenal year for Anthrocon! OMG...Aliens are coming!
I thought I'd take a moment to share some new developments from the world of Prorgamming to help wet your appetites:
* Table top Gaming track - I'm so happy that our new table top gaming track lead, Swift Fox, has been diligently working on many games and events that I'm certain our gamer friends will really enjoy. Thanks Swifty, and we look forward to seeing the great lineup of table top games that you're working on!
* Fandom track - Our new fandom track lead, Arrow, is also busily working on putting together some fun panels and events. I know that Arrow was recently working on some species specific panels, as he posted in the AC Forums. If you want to host a panel within the fandom track, you can coordintate with Arrow by e-mailing him at
* Music Production and DJ panels - Many folks have asked for guidance on how to DJ at cons and how to craft music that furry fans will love. Well, Draconum has stepped in to help do just that! We're very happy to have Draconum's expertise and insight on this material and we think that our musically inclined attendees will get some great information from his panels.
* Art track - Do you love Webcomics? Are you wanting to get the skinny on how to do them yourself? Well, stand back because the fandom's very own. The Gneech, is volunteering to give a persentation on Webcomic creation. The Gneech's experience with "Suburban Jungle" makes him an excellent source of invaluable information on Webcomics, and Anthrocon is happy to have him presenting.
* Whose Lion Is It Anyway? - If you love improvisational comedy, then are you in for a treat! SemJay is bringing this popular event to Anthrocon! You'll have a lot of fun with this quirky comedy presentation, and who knows...you may get pulled out of the audience to perform on stage!
* Anthropoly! - It's back and better than ever. This is Anthrocon's unique game show where you get pulled right out of the audience to play and have a chance at winning prizes! The Anthropoly panelists represent various components of the convention: artist, writer, puppeteer, fursuiter, stage performer. You get to match wits with our panelists and get a lot of laughs in the process.
* The new expanded ZOO! - Last year, the Zoo was held in part of the Allegheny ballroom. This year, the Zoo will be in the ENTIRE ballroom. That's right, there is even MORE space for folks to hang out and socialize in. Plus, we are working on providing even more space in the convention center for folks to hang out and relax in.
Anthrocon's programming team is committed to making your convention the best that it can be. But we need your help to do that! If you'd like to become a part of Anthrocon's programming, please drop us a line at I'd love to hear from you and we can discuss your panel requests!

Sounds like AC09 is shaping up to be even more overwhelming than I'd anticipated...
Oh dear.
At least I'm going with a few locals who've been to AC before
How long is it supposed to take to get a reply regarding a panel proposition? I sent an email earlier in the week from my work address.
I double-checked. The confirmation message when you complete the programming suggestion form is supposed to say:
Thank you for your time. Please be reminded that we get a lot of suggestions, and we do not have time to respond personally to every one. Your programming suggestion has been recorded and will be given consideration, and if we think we can fit it in, we will be in contact with you. If you have any additional questions, please contact our Programming department.
Considering as I hosted the Furs In the Videogame Industry panel last year and was proposing it again this year, it's really a shame that you guys wouldn't at least say "Sorry, we're not interested this year."
It'd really be unfortunate if you guys decided not to have that panel again this year, people seemed to really enjoy it in '08.
Edit: Now that I think about it, does just silently reject any emails that aren't sent via this "programming suggestion form"?
Maybe you should adjust your attitude.
I'm very sorry if you've perceived any hostility coming from me, that certainly wasn't my intention.
All I was saying was that it would be unfortunate if I were unable to educate furries about the videogame industry again this year.
I was also trying to find out if the lack of response may have actually been because I mistakenly emailed directly rather than going through the web form.
if you can assist in either situation, I would be very grateful.
your verbage could use some adjustment. rather than the threatening 'it would be unfortunate if...' and 'it's a shame that' you could always just omit that and be a bit more passive about it.
see, you -did- come across as hostile and 'i know better than you.' i don't care either way; i'm not on staff and am not interested in the panel, but. just from an outsider's perspective, that might be a bit too on the offense.
really.
and i'm not on staff, so no. you will have to do the legwork yourself. i think people on staff are aware now, as kage has responded to you. wait patiently and your response will come.

That last bit of news is fantastic.
