Do you guys deliver?
If so, feel free to drop off a few menus at the Operations Office, located in the Crawford Room of the Third Floor in the Westin, and we'll order plenty of food from you!
I am looking forward to eating at the diner again, probably the best food I ate all con. :3

Somehow, I've yet to have the chance to eat at the diner in all the years AC has been in Pittsburgh. My goal is to remedy that this year
I'll make it there at least once this convention, for certain. :9
Cannot wait to nom delicious diner food! We have a SERIOUS lack of diners in my area.

is it expensive?
Mike
i barely can afford that
Then don't go to a con. This is well-addressed in all of the "planning your first con" articles out there, but furry cons are typically held in urban business districts, where restaurants are more expensive than a rural/cheap area ($10 for a big meal is really, really cheap by these standards), and making anything more complex than a cold-cut sandwich in your room is frowned upon/against hotel policy. A weekend is a long time to go without eating, and relying on mooching makes you a pariah, so if your trip budget doesn't include food, or if eating out really cuts into your funds, you'd have a much more comfortable and enjoyable trip if you save your money for next year.
Mike
its not so much that. i just havent been able to get to my big checking account. i have about 10,000 in there its just i get antsy about goin below a certain level
Know what I do to save for upcoming cons?
Every $5 bill I get, I set aside. I periodically go to the bank and change those up into $20s and $50s, and keep them in a safe place.
After a few months, I have a few hundred dollars set aside, which gives me spending money for food and artwork at conventions. I've been doing it for the last few cons, and it's worked out well so far.
Mike
i know this sounds wierd but im saving up for a brand new mercedez benz and trying to save up for that. but im comin and enjoyin Anthrocon
Might I suggest:
Setting up a 2nd account at your bank or credit union, primarily designed as a savings or "Accumulator" account? These generally pay a better interest rate than normal checking, but can often be conveniently linked for transfer between the two accounts - the accumulator generally will have a limit on the number of withdrawals that can be made in a month, it's primary purpose is to grow a fund.
If you can, have your paycheck direct-deposited to your checking account, and then about once a month or so, transfer any money in excess of what you normally spend in a month (reserving a healthy cushion) into the accumulator account. OR, have a fixed but tolerable amount deducted from your paycheck, and have _that_ directly deposited to your accumulator account.
...and plan on doing most of your dining at Fernando's sandwich shop, just a couple doors down; this should save you enough to splurge and have a really grand meal at the Steel City Diner, at least once.
Agreed. I have my "tolerable amount" sucked directly out of my paycheck. As my wise old uncle always said "the only way to save is to pay yourself first!". So that's what I do. My savings acct. is at a credit union and gets decent interest. I don't touch that $$ unless it's for certain pre-determined events or expenses throughout the year which I budget into the actual number. I also take advantage of the Flexible Spending Account (FSA) offered through my work, which sets aside pre-tax dollars for medical/dependent care expenses. I take a piece of each check and set it aside for childcare and when it gets to be a reasonable sum, I put in for reimbursement. It makes for a nice little boost every quarter or so (part of which goes directly to my savings acct.) and reduces my overall taxable income.

I will do that. I hope to enjoy steel city diner
This will be my first time at AC and I definitely want to try out the steel city diner. How far is ot from the con?
Click on the knife&fork on 10th&Liberty, right across from the hotel. Basically you cross the street and it's a couple of doors down...

Steel City Diner is awesome and yummy. They're on Liberty Avenue, less than a block away from the Westin.

I'm thrilled with the excellent service from the Steel City diner.
The blueberry pancakes are amazing.
I'm looking forward to doing business with you guys again, too!
*drools like homer simpson; thinking about delicious big fish from steel city diner*
oooooooohhhhh......
Ooh, can hardly wait! Loved the burger the last time I was there and it was a good value too!
I'm wondering if the diner staff is actually reading these comments.
The food there is absolutely awesome when it's done right. Last year they were SO packed to the brim with furries that my food was undercooked. It happens in resteraunts, and when it's that packed I couldn't blame them.
The pricing, the atmosphere (what's left of it when ever single seat is full), and the food and portions are outrageously fantastic.
Also, if you're the type who can enjoy the excitement and mystery of a suicide drink (a mix of every type of pop in the machine they dispense it from) they make a DARN good one there. I had to tip my waitress extra for such a good job. :3
Awesome, I look forward to it as well

AHAHAHH! Yes! I will be there! But you won't have a SINGLE salad left afterwords!!
I love my greens!
I'm from New Jersey, AKA The Land of Diners.
When I first saw this place in a row of stores my first thought was "Diner? Ha !"
It only took one meal...
I'm already looking forward to my cheese omelet and homefries.
I recommend Steel City Diner most highly.
To let it be known....I am not a full time employee of the diner. My name is Ryan Johnson, and I come up from Atlanta to cook at the diner ONLY for Anthrocon. This will be my 2nd year doing it, and I can't wait. I look forward to seeing all of you again. I am working closely with Christine and Bob (the owners) on a more streamlined menu specially set ONLY for Anthrocon. We will be open late this year (until 7 or 8pm). T shirts will again be on sale.
Again, we ALL look forward to seeing you again. Thanks for supporting the diner the way you do.
~~The Diner.
This is to be my first AC. Hopefully I will have the pleasure of eating at your establishment. I have heard only wonderful things!
I'll be back for breakfast on the 2nd, after I have already arrived.
--------------
My name is pronounced like this: GOO-show-SEH-kiye.
I am getting in on the 1st of July, the first thing I am going to do is get my baggage, get a taxi from the airport to the hotel, check my bags or check in...
And go to steel city diner for a breakfast bagel.
I have eaten here at 2007 and 2008 AC for breakfast and I have to say no matter WHAT I get the food is excellent, the service is remarkable and the prices are real cheap. Someone once said cheap, fast, good pick any two.. that person never ate at Steel City Diner.
I am counting down the days until I am back in Pittsburgh.

Not everyday you see a diner use a computer. Wow.
WE ARE COMING.
