Biography:
So you want to learn about the Meerkat known as Antimon do ya? Well I started in the fandom proper way back in 2004, attended Megaplex 2004 as my first con followed by Anthrocon 2004 as my first time here. Got my first partial Fursuit for MFF04 which was a full by FC 05. Fast forward to 2009 and I've attended 25 some odd fur cons, own 9 suits with another on the way for 2010, and have established myself in the circle of friends that is the furry fandom. I've run panels at cons on multiple topics from Fursuit maintenance to African Animal round tables, but you're not reading this because of any of that. You're here because I've been selected to entertain you at one of Anthrocon's coveted dances as a DJ.
It all started back in 2004. After going to a few cons and checking out the dances, some were great, some, not so much. After many a night of shaking my head and leaving the dance unsatisfied, I thought to myself I can do better. Don't get me wrong there are lots of talented DJ's out there, but not every good DJ can run a successful dance at a fur con, especially one fursuiters can enjoy. There are some people who deeply inspire me to get to their level though. In my opinion the 2 best DJ's (for fursuiters anyway) are BBF and Rory. Rory's got your Cheese and 80's, BBF's got your Vocal Trance, & Techno / Top 40. My music tastes fall right in the middle, I love both types of music near equally and my own personal library of dance tunes is split pretty evenly between the 2 pools. They know how to get a floor moving and keep it there. They inspire me to be my best in the hopes of attaining their level of audience appreciation. My goal is to make the floor happy. When you're running a dance, it should never be about the performer showing off their skill, or trying to broaden the horizon of the audience. This isn't music appreciation hour or a DJ competition. My sole focus when I'm DJing is the crowd, I'm here for you guys to have a good time, I try my best to keep you energized and satisfied.
The road to Anthrocon was a challenging one. Competition to DJ at the worlds leading furry con is stiff. There are a lot of talented people out there & only so many spots. I'm still not entirely sure what made Simba choose me, but I am deeply honored for the opportunity to perform for you guys, While I like to DJ any time I can, I get extra pleasure out of running a Fursuit dance, I consider fursuiters my people and hope to do them proud but at the same time, a dance can make or break a con for a lot of suiters, so there is that much extra pressure to do a good job, Yappy Fox gave me my break so to speak, during FWA 2006 he let me jump in to help DJ the Dead Dog Dance, Megaplex 2006 I got my first official con dance, and I've DJ'd several cons since then. I'm not a Pro DJ, I only perform at cons for furs, and that's all I really want to do, this is a hobby for me not a business. To date the largest con I've DJ'd at was MFF 2007, that, and my FWA 2007 dances were the most successful thus far. I'm looking forward to adding Anthrocon to my accomplishments. This has been a goal of mine since I started back in 2006. I hope you come excited, and leave tired and happy. The success of these dances especially the extra Fursuit dance and the DJ's you see back to perform the next year, rely heavily on your feedback to the con, so after, please do comment on what you like, and what you didn't so the dances as a whole can continue to improve. With any luck, I'll see you next year, but if not, I am honored and pleased to perform for you in 2009.
