I would have expected an email with a yes or no on the application prior to the post on the forum, but you have a good line up of DJ's there. Would have liked to see some new names instead of so many known veterans, but you have a good experience base this way.

I meant to post this a week ago but I've been getting in touch with folks to confirm invitations, and I put off saying no to folks until I had confirmed everyone, in case someone couldn't make it. Then in my haste to get the list posted it just slipped my mind. My apologies about that.

I'm quite excited about the list. Most of the auditions I got were for the Friday night rave, so that's where the new names ended up.. I always like to have a mixture of 'veteran' DJs as well as new names.

I hope the crowd will appreciate trance.. heh... I guess to be specific, I like to play progressive/melodic trance, occasionally vocal (but alot of times also instrumental).

I'm already picking out tracks to play, I hope they're hard enough for the dance crowd. I've always got in mind that what I'll be playing needs to be relatively dancable Eye-wink

What have I got in mind already?

A Sean Tyas remix (of Mike Foyle), Leama and Moor (remix by Matt Dekay), some sort of Sarah Mclachlan remix (there has to be one!), a hard trance remix of Andy Moor's Halcyon... and some other stuff. Obviously this has 6 months to change Eye-wink

Trance rocks my world.

Whether I'll be able to make it to the dance or not is an entirely different matter. Sticking out tongue

There are a few Sarah McLachlan remixes out there. I know there's a promo vinyl of her song, "First Noel" as well as a the winners of the remix contest Beatport was hosting.

Might I suggest these tracks:
Young Parisians - Jump The Next Train (Probspot Remix)
Aalto - 5 (Original Mix)
Endre - I Kill For You (Probspot Remix)

I was a runner up in the beatport contest!

IN FACT if you search 'Draconum' on beatport.com the track comes up! I won some sarah vinyl, which is too bad because I have never spun vinyl and may not for a long time (just too big an investment, I don't have the cash to be buying vinyl records all the time..)

....wait. The winning tracks are on vinyl?

I'M ON VINYL! AWESOME! The crappy part is that I was credited as the 'mystery remix' until I contacted them recently and told them I was the author.. there was a mixup in the database and they had no clue who had done the remix. So the vinyl is probably labeled 'Mystery Remix' as it was on beatport (until recently, it is now titled properly).

There's actually an album of Sarah McLachlan remixes out called, appropriately, Remixed. Tracks on it were:

Fear (Hybrid's Super Collider Mix)
Sweet Surrender (DJ Tiësto Mix)
Angel (Dusted Remix)
I Love You (BT Mix)
Silence (DJ Tiësto's In Search Of Sunrise Remix)
Black (William Orbit Mix)
Possession (Rabbit In The Moon Mix)
Hold On (BT Mix)
Plenty (Fade Mix)

I've only seen it on CD. It might be available on vinyl, I've never looked.

She also had a second remix album with remixes by Sly and Robbie, Gabriel and Dresden, Junkie XL, Thievery Corporation, and some others (incl. a collab with Run DMC). Both remix albums are excellent, some of my favorite music to date!

I have.... the above and beyond remix.. the filterheadz remix.. tiesto remix.. airscape remix.. nelmzy remix.. and my own remix (though the 'acapella' of the track I found is definately not the original vocals. Close, but definately not sarah =/)

I'm looking forward to dropping some industrial and EBM for you all. Just because the lights are out in a room, doesn't mean that it can't get a bit darker.

Anyway, I hope everyone likes what my ghetto-ed up rig and I have to offer. Sticking out tongue

Due to mixed feelings on MC's, I thought I'd first see if you guys liked MC's over sets, or if you'd rather just see me by myself. The one I brought to AC in 2002 & 3 will not be coming back, this will be a very well known MC with actual skill and experience.

I remember the MC from the 2003 dance. I thought it was a great idea. He really got me moving to the beat, and I remember he had everyone else moving good and hard, too.

It was the first time I ever saw something like that at a furry con, and I've wondered why it has never been repeated since.

I'm all for it. I'd be there for it. That's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it.

In all honesty, I don't know what the point is... I mean.. I guess it's just not my style. But I'm open to ideas and things that are not my normal style, so I won't knock something before giving it a chance I guess ;p

To me, the idea of an MC shouting over a dance music set sounds a bit silly and unecessary... but then again, I will be playing house and trance, a bit more serious stuff, definately not happy hardcore. So I guess I can see how it would fit in that type of setting a bit more.

From my perspective, it's the groove of a track, often the percussion or bass that incites movement, not someone's voice. But what do I know! XD

It was just for the hardcore set I was doing. We often have Mc's in hardcore as just an extra element, but as I said, I just wanted to get a few perspectives first before I just brought one in. I'll see how it goes at the pre-party for the dance, and if I get the okay from Simba.

I'm dedicating my set, this year, to the memory of a close friend who sadly won't be joining me at AC. (I will not name names for his family's sake) He passed on a week ago from a heart complication.

RIP DC
May we meet again.

MC's are fun, unless they talk TOO much- but if its like a 5minute "Get the feeling going" per every twenty minute spin, its not a big thing. If its a 5 minute speech every 5 minutes, its irritating. But if Genki wants to MC, I say go for it, man. You're one of the more(If not the, in my limited experience) talented DJ's out there in the 'dom. You want to do it, do it. You think your friends' a A plus job, then I trust your judgement. Besides, nonstop techno gets, kinda repetative. And by kinda, I mean it really does all sound the same if its' not broken up by SOMETHING.
